I had a 30 day leave coming, so flying from San Diego, I first stopped in Cleveland, picked up a rental car and also picked up my girlfriend, which lived about 30 miles east of the city and together we went to Washington first to see the cherry blossoms and then to go over to the Marine base in Quantico and also over to Arlington to pay our respects to those that have fallen in wars and to visit the Kennedys’ grave site. After that, I drove back west to I-81 and then drove north to Corning, New York.

I drove through parts of the Poconos, the Adirondacks and then headed east and drove through the Catskills before going to West Point, which I had wanted to visit. It was early October, so the scenery was beautiful.

It was by far, the very best vacation I ever had. My girlfriend really enjoyed going to the Corning factory. I think we spent half a day there. She bought a lot of stuff there. I was able to get into West Point and the Provost Officer was kind enough to assign an MP to give us the 50 cent tour. It was very quick.

I didn’t realize how beautiful the state outside of New York City was.
 
BTW, it wasn't the cherry blossoms we went to see. It was the apple blossoms that come in during the early fall. I am in so much pain with this dang tooth, my brain isn't operating properly. There are apple orchards all over the area just outside of D.C. near Fairfax County.

What do you take for the worse pain ever? These Advil gel capsules that the doctor recommended isn't cutting it and I am in serious pain and thinking about going to the emergency room. This is why I got on the computer to try and get my mind off of this pain, but that isn't working.

I don't want any narcotics, but I may have to capitulate and take a few until I see the doctor in the morning.

Take the narcotic! It's not going to be for very long. That is, unless you are a recovering addict at this time.

Finally went to the emergency room at 8:30 last night and just got home about an hour ago. They gave me a shot of Dilauded, but said it would last only about 6 hours, so I was given 2 Dilauded pills to take along. The pain is finally gone, but for how long? The doctor said he is no dentist and has no dentistry experience, but he thinks I have an infection in that socket where the implant is. I see the dentist at 7:45 this morning. Going to try and get some sleep now.
