What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

It was hilarious! I wanted to watch a movie that would distract me for a couple of hours and this movie did just that. Something crazy was happening every minute of the movie. Even my husband liked it . Very goofy but seriously funny. ☺️
That sort of movie can be just the thing at the right time. Comfort movies. :)

My sister Bonnie has never sat down long enough to watch movies but now that she lives here, she watches with us when we have movie night (at home). So, since Bonnie missed out on some really great movies, I went through my DVD's and picked ones I was sure she'd like.

So far, she's seen:

Life is Beautiful (Roberto Benigni)
The Cooler (William H. Macy)
Reign over Me (Adam Sandler)
The Curious Life of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt)

She liked all of them. A lot.

Leading up to Life is Beautiful I had her watch a bunch of YouTube videos about the Holocaust with me. We're half Jewish so I'm amazed at how little she knows about it. And since we're half Italian-Jew, and because Bonnie's kind of a softie, I figured Life is Beautiful would be a good choice for her. (I was right)

The last movie I watched was the "Maze Runner" and its sequel "Maze Runner: The Scotch Trials". I also have a large collection of DVD's and have been alternating between "Stargate SG-1" and "Kung Fu, The Legend Continues"

My son read the Maze Runner series years ago. I didn't realize they'd been made into movies. Similar to Hunger Games or Divergent?

Beautiful Boy

It’s about a family who have a beautiful son who gets addicted to drugs. It was a true story. At the end it said the boy had been clean & sober for the last 8 years.

It also said that in America the leading cause of death under 50 is overdose. 😱 If this is true it’s very sad. My heart goes out to any parent having to deal with a drug addicted child. 🙁

Oh, no! Why'd you hate that car scene? I'm just curious. I just couldn't think of the reason behind someone hating that car scene.
Didn't they barely miss running over a woman with a baby carriage? If that was another movie, I apologize. I just remember the French Connection car scene as being awful in some way. I hate it when the "heroes" of a movie mow down fruit stalls, etc.

"Inheritance" on Netflix with Lily Collins (Phil Collins' daughter) and Simon Pegg in a rare fully serious role. On surface it could be watched as just a dark thriller with a couple of twists if you like that sort of thing, but it raises some questions about how one might define being a 'good person', 'doing the right thing' and how far do we go in name of 'family loyalty' for some of us.

Afterward i watched a couple of my favorite stand up comics' Netflix specials: Vir Das and Hari Kondabolu. Cause the movie is very dark and i like to lighten up my mind before sleep.

I remember when that movie was being shown in art houses. I didn't see it though (yet).

French Connection also has the scene.

i saw Battleship Potemkin in a New Jersey 'Art House' Theatre--foreign movies, Independent ones, and old ones back in mid 60s.

i agree damage done during car chase scenes in movies are disturbing. More so because we know such things can happen in real world. Tho many Law Enforcement agencies have instituted procedures for 'handing off' a suspect they're pursuing to an upcoming jurisdiction so they can back off and the person will hopefully slow down and not hit any innocent people. A few years ago County Sheriff's officers were in pursuit of someone who exceed 100MPH on open hwy. they had gotten make and radioed our city police as they backed off hoping the driver would slow down. Unfortunately he was drug addled, didn't slow and skidded off road on a sharp curve at edge of town. He went all the way thru a storefront Church's building which was not occupied at the time. And he was dead when our Officers arrived moments later.

i keep expecting to hear a story from old-time resident that the stretch just east of that curve is 'cursed'.Most of the buildings (including a jail from pioneer days) abandoned. In last couple of years the first hotel and store in the town (both functions long done) burned to ground, And this winter a semi took that curve to fast and damaged the old jail building.

Yes. Gene Hackman barely missed running over that woman with a baby carriage. That could make people uneasy. Anyway, respect your opinion.

Is it? I didn't know that. Haven't seen Battleship Potemkin yet. Well, wait a minute. Are you referring to that baby carriage rolling down the stairs scene? Cause you know, after watching De Palma's The Untouchables, I read that the stairway scene in it was influenced by Battleship Potemkin.
Yes, rolling down stairs due to chaos not almost run over but to me baby in unnecessary danger of all kinds equal to each other. You hold your breath till they're safe.

I rented “The Whale” since Brendan Frazier won Best Actor at the Academy Awards.
It was a huge downer! Every single character in the movie was a broken person. I can’t say I enjoyed it. I was depressed for the rest of the evening after seeing it.

I wanted to watch that but was waiting for the price to go down..last I looked it was $19.99 to rent.
Thanks for the heads up!

Everything Everywhere All At Once

Loved it! The writing is imaginative, plot is unpredictable, and the acting is top-notch. Every actor is convincing, funny, heart breaking...everyone is everything. This movie totally deserved the awards and acclaim it's gotten, and it came at a time when all the major studios have given their audiences one crap-dumpfest after another for a whole decade.
