Hey, how's it going today for you? It's 2023. An alternate thread for different people.

As predicted, I spent a good amount of time this weekend finding a phone, getting my new phone set up and learning it's features. At home th set up was easier than I thought since Google suggested several apps, some of which I use and did multiple downloads at once in mere seconds. My son, who has a similar phone, helped me with a couple of perplexing things about the various volume controls. But finding the phone and getting it set up at the store was different story. The first Metro store I went too didn't have anywhere near the models I wanted. Luckily I live in a very walkable area and another Metro store was only a couple of blocks away. Since I needed a phone three days before I went shopping for one, I settled on an older model that I intended (the Samsung Galaxy A14), but it's not as old as what the first store had in stock (03's and A10s). I sat there and looked through Amazon reviews before making up my mind because the A14 wasn't one of the ones I added to my notepad app the night before. Once satisfied with the reviews, I got it.

I had deleted some things, including my email, from the old phone because I'm a bit paranoid about what information is kept in their systems after transferring info from one phone to another. Well, that was a mistake! The young lady needed my email to complete the transfer of my photos (I should've known that ! ) and contacts. I tried getting back into my email but when Google sent the verification codes, the sign in screen did not show the field in which to type them (I tried 3 times). The girl tried another way on her system but it wasn't working. I wound up walking back home so I could get the login approval screen on my tablet. I decided I to eat something before going back. After I went back, the girl hit another glitch but that resolved itself in a couple of minutes. I even had to change my password while in the store requiring me to think of yet another password! I called a good friend and asked him to call me back before I left the store, just to make sure the phone rang. At first I didn't hear the call come in, even while I fiddled with what I thought was the volume controls. Turns out the volume is controlled differently than my last phone and I figured it out, so I heard it when he called back.

I had a couple of flutters yesterday, so took it easy. It may have been because I let myself get over tired. The good thing is that I didn't have to cook anything. My son bought eggplant parm (with ziti) dinners from one of the local restaurants on Friday. I ate more of that for lunch (I can eat off their dinners 4 times). For dinner I had the fresh cooked bean soup he made.
I have Metro too but got a Motorola phone. There have been a few times I have had to restart it to correct a problem but that's all in a year and a half. I'm not crazy about all the features but mostly am. I'm sorry you had a flutter. I have had some occasionally. I have heart disease.

That Ziti that your son got sounds delicious 🤤. I may have some ravioli tonight. I love pasta and you can tell by my waist😂. I'm not so concerned about my waist size as I used to be though 🤠.

I consider today a lucky day! I went for a walk in the woods and climbed over a large Beech tree that had fallen and found myself about tree feet away from a skunk. We eyeballed each other and I knew I had to wait it out so just stayed still. Sensing I wasn't a threat it went back to digging grubs and I slowly moved away. I was sure glad we parted as friends.lol
Skunk encounters can be scary but aren't they adorable 😍

We tried this place for the first time because they were offering $5 off on dinners and really like it. I think this one is the best we've had. At first we were getting the eggplant parmesan with linguini but I like it with the ziti better. It was very good. I still have a section in the freezer. They also include quite a large salad. Do you use whole wheat or whole grain pasta? You aren't alone in the waistline thing, believe me! But take good care of yourself and thank you for the concern.

I try to buy whole grain or veggies pasta but this ravioli is neither. I treat myself to it occasionally. Thank you for caring ☺️

I AM BEAT!! Went to run some errands. Went to both Kroger for loss leaders, then onto Walmart. I have got to get more active. Two hours out, loading and unloading the car has made me feel sick. I am glad we had cool temps and a nice wind. If this was midsummer it would have been a heatstroke outing. I am glad I signed up for the Walmart plus program, that will save my butt this summer.

The meat of the day was pork. I got two racks of baby back ribs at 1.99lb and one pork loin (that I will cut into chops) for 1.97lb. One rack of ribs will go to the son. My rack will be cut into 3rds and frozen. Picked up a family size Rana 5 cheese tortellini for 6.00. I prefer the spinach ricotta but they were out. I think this will be good cold in a pasta salad. Kroger cheese was on sale for 1.29 for 8oz, shredded or sliced. Picked up 2 bags of cheddar jack and 2 sliced swiss for the freezer. One dozen large eggs for 2.59. If I recover enough I might go to yet another store tomorrow to restock chicken breast.

Well, just remembered I forgot to get milk, I will have to go out for milk tomorrow. I have a container frozen so I am going to pull that out and see if this is a good option for future. I also keep evaporated and dry milk for baking/cooking. There is a quart of half and half I use for hot tea and some cooking.

I am really tired, fixing to put the pjs on, feed the dogs and wait for one of you to come over and make us a Rueben sandwich.

Skunks are very cool animals. I've handled them and they're very timid animals, and yes very adorable. They do dig up the yard a bit but it doesn't bother me, I know they're digging out the grubs.
I saw one of them pretty close one day and I walked slowly away but noticed they are beautiful creatures 😃
When I was in high school, my girlfriend had a pet skunk. His name was Scoobie. 🦨 He was adorable. Of course, I'd never touched one before, so I was surprised that he was so silky soft, friendly, and very smart. He was able to unlatch his cage, so they had to get a lock for it. I don't think people should keep skunks as pets, but at the time I was glad to have had the chance to get up close with one.

I hear they are popular as a pet when they have had their stink glands removed. I think they are a very beautiful animal but it is not fair to take them out of the wild and do surgery to make them acceptable as pets. I also do not approve of people debarking a dog or removing a cat's claws. God made each of these animals to live in their world, he did not give us his blessing to take away things that keep them safe out in the world.

First, I had to come to page 6 to find this thread. So, I will at least say enough to bring it to the top again.

I must come more often. I see a lot of interesting comments but too many to respond to. I've enjoyed reading about the pets, the skunks (glad you escaped), what you are eating, how well you're sleeping, new phones, white hair (me too), and all the other things.

Have a great evening. 🤗

Oh I missed this post. You sure got a lot of shopping done and got some good deals. I didn't know you could freeze cheese. I never have and it often gets used up around here fast.

Sure I'll make you a Reuben sandwich and have one too...lol. Ii haven't had a good one in ages. I hope your night is going well ❤️‍🩹

Yes, cheese freezes well, shredded, sliced or block, I always buy cheese when it on sale and throw it in the freezer. What I have used this week on the ruebens was frozen swill slices I got months ago on sale. The corned beef was bought on sale last May for 1.99lb and put in the freezer as well. I am lucky to have a spare fridge and freezer.

You sure are lucky to have a spare frig and freezer. How long can meat and poultry be kept frozen and still good?

I find that meats can be frozen for at least six months if you freeze in appropriate packaging. The two corned beef I have in the freezer are in the processing plant sealed package. They can last longer. I even find that some frozen veggies are not good long term, over 2 or 3 months. Home cooked meals, I find the best is to use them the next 3 to 4 months. I do not have a vacuum sealer but I have had one before. They can make things last longer but since I am alone now I don't have that need.

Thank you. I'm always wondering about that 😃

My day was slow, it just dragged and I'm glad it's over. A telemarketer called who has been harassing me and I told her off. I mean I screamed at her. She kept talking over me and ignoring my request for her to stop calling me. She has called several times from different phone numbers. I blocked her yesterday after I yelled at her. The only thing I regret is that my neighbors probably heard me and wonder what's up with me.

I took my computer down to my car yesterday and put it in the trunk. It is very heavy and awkward. That's why I've been putting off getting it fixed. I will take it to the shop soon and hopefully it will get repaired.

I realized I am a big procrastinate and probably lazy too. When I was younger I did things immediately. Now I have to yell at myself to get my ass in gear. Mostly I don't want to do anything.

Just answer the phone, say "winters morgue, you kill them and we chill them" say nothing else just wait and they will disconnect and not call you again!

Thank you, Ruthanne! I like this thread but I sometimes go too long between visits.

It is such a blessing to be able to block annoying telemarketers. I do it routinely and smile every time. 😁

I had a surprise when I got up this morning. It was 64 degrees in the house even though the thermostat was set at 66. I think it's the fan. The thermostat will turn the burner on but no air blows. I've called the guy that always services the furnace and he should be here in a couple of hours. Fortunately, the sun is out and it's not terribly cold today but we will have high winds. 🌞💨

I hope you're all doing well this morning. 🌻

I found us on Page 7 today. Here we go back to the top!

I got my furnace taken care of yesterday and it wasn't anything expensive. I got by for the price of the service call. However, the serviceman discovered a leak in a water regulator so I will have the plumber tomorrow. I expect that will be a more expensive visit.

I have cleaning to do today too. It's not that bad but I like to be sure there won't be any surprise dust bunnies or cat hair tumbleweeds where the plumber will be going. :ROFLMAO:

It's a beautiful day today, sunny and warm enough. I intend to get outside for a little while too. Have a great day if you pass by!
