Gave myself a bit of a fright today

Went to place my bets on the horses and my wallet was not in my pocket.
Oh dear, where is it?
Where was the last time I remember having it?
Went to the supermarket, last time I remember handling my wallet. Drove back to the supermarket, not there. Where to from there. Home. Went home, no wallet. Double checked at home, triple checked at home.
There it was, sitting on the washing machine? No idea what it was doing there.
The hassle of losing wallet/purse gives one palpitations.
Not so much the money, all those pesky cards.
Bank eftpos card, medicare card, RAC card, Drivers Licence, Forklift licence, Bus Smart Rider card, Library card, Coffee shop card, Organ Donor card.

my wallet was not in my pocket
I've done that once
Just that once
Very unsettling
I always have my thin wallet in my front pocket
It wasn't there when I went to pay at checkout
Nothing
Had to leave everything and go home to hopefully find it
Found it between the seat and the door of my Wrangler
I was wearing cargo shorts
Shallow pockets
Tossed them
Bought deep pocket shorts

How I can empathise with that. There's three items that I need around me to function, my wallet, phone and spectacles. It's like there's always one of them missing. Then, like Gary, it's more of a search than memory recall. Memory! Hah! I lose that as much as I do those three items.

I understand. I try not to keep everything in one wallet.. so if I lose it there's not as big a problems as there could have been..losing 2 cards instead of 8 for example.. Last week I had a similar internal panic when I was in the supermarket and realised I didn't have my keys.. .Car Key front and back door keys etc ..so I retraced my steps back to the nail salon to see if I;d left them there.. and so on and then realised they were actually in my pocket. I hadn't realised on the jacket that I've worn only a couple of times, that there's a ''secret'' pocket just above the main pocket, and I'd inadvertently put them in there.. *phew*

I have always scanned all my important cards, you can fit about 10 on the scanner, so then have a hard copy(Stored safely) and as you know, do not have to scan through your PC. Just turn the Printer on(No PC) place the cards on the scanner and hit the copy button. It can be a nightmare if lose important cards, but at least if you have copies, it makes it so much easier when getting replacements ID Numbers, Account numbers, etc, etc when asked.

Losing keys really concerns me. I am forever checking to see if I have my keys.
Paranoid when parking my car and when I get out there is a grated storm water drain directly below me. They seem to be everywhere.
No doubt I will drop them down that blasted grated drain one day.

I have a spare Car key at home.. and I have a spare front and back door key in a safe lock on the outside wall of my house.. so if I lose my keys at least I'll be able to get into the house and get the spare car key. I did this after locking myself out one day and having to call an Emergency locksmith.. however, losing car keys when you're far from home , and having to find an alternate route back even if we do have spare keys at home.. is not something most of us want to have to do..

I’m so bad with keys that I have mine on a wide fabric ribbon that I hang around my neck so I’m sure not to forget them. My wallet I rarely take anywhere so I’m not so concerned with. Most of my shopping I do online these days. It’s so much easier and less hassle for me.

As you get older, you get more absent minded. You can put you wallet, credit card, car keys, down some where in your house, and totally forget about it. Then you scare the hell out of yourself, trying to find them. We've all been through that before.
It really baffled me why it was on the washing machine. I arrived home from the supermarket and intended going out immediately I packed away the goods. No need to take my wallet from my pocket. 🤷‍♂️

I can relate to the “lost my keys” panic. Where I live, you can pump your own gas. I pulled in, pumped my gas, paid, then couldn’t find my keys! My transportation had suddenly become a 3,000 lb. paperweight…PANIC! Finally found my keys in a pocket where I never put them. We do thoughtless things when distracted…

Ugh, that 'going cold' feeling when you realize you truly don't know where your wallet is. :/
In my case, nowadays, it's my phone which has a little pocket thingy on the back that holds my important cards.

Glad you found it. :)

Regarding keys, I don’t need a house key because we have keyless entry so I just have to remember the combination😂

The only keys I carry are to my car (and it’s not actually a key, just a fob) and several keys to client homes. I keep them on a clip which I clip to my purse. Haven’t lost keys in 30 years!

I have my credit and bank cards as virtual cards in my virtual wallet on my phone. I usually don’t have to pull out the physical card, just let the reader scan my phone.

Occasionally I’ll leave my phone somewhere!!! Usually in a public restroom, because I mostly carry it in a pants or workout pocket so when I use the facilities I take it out of my pocket so it doesn’t accidentally fall into the toilet or on the floor.

Luckily I also wear an Apple Watch and it alerts me when I’m too far away from my phone. Either that, or my earbuds which I always wear one of will make the chiming sound that it’s disconnected from Bluetooth. Watch and earbuds make excellent failsafes!

That's exactly the reason I won't put cards in the phone case... 1.. because I'm always putting my phone down and not being able to find it.. and 2, there's a good chance that ne'rdo-wells and thieves who have seen you use your phone will recognise that there's likely to be cards in that type of Case...

I don't have a problem with it as I almost never misplace my phone, attached to it as I am. My husband does the shopping and/or we have it delivered so no worries there. Eh, working for me, so far. :)
