Childhood Fears

Have you had any, any that you can remember,
I remembered one of mine today, when I was a
child and learned that apple trees grew from a
small seed in the middle of the apple, I thought
that if I ate one, a tree would start to grow in me.

I was terrified at the time, but grew out of that
fear as I aged.

Today, it all came back to me, when I was eating
a wedge of Water Melon, do I remove the seeds
or eat them, not being inclined to sit for ages
picking them out, I decided to eat them, I hope
that I will be OK

What's the Rag Man? I'm scared and I don't even know what/who he is.
Truck used to drive all over the city to collect rags. An old man hung off the side of the truck calling "r-a-a-gs, r-a-a-gs, r-a-a-gs...." in a creepy, scary voice.

Some kids had parents who threatened to send them to the Rag Man if they didn't behave. Not mine, but that's how scary he was!.

I was scared of death because I was sent to Catholic school where the nuns taught us in the first grade to say an act of contrition prayer in case we died while we slept! WTF! I was SIX! I ran home screaming and my parents really did not know how to cope with this so I've been scared my whole life but learned how to hide it. I'm thinking of suing the Catholic church for this.

Okay, well that is genuinely freaking scary.
I wonder if they secretly enjoyed their jobs, these Rag Men? Like, do you have to be kinda creepy to qualify?

I loved the rag man.. dunno if he was the same in the USA as in Scotland.. but the rag man would come around on his horse and cart and give us kids a Balloon or a gold fish in a bag if we brought him out some old rags ...

The rag men only worked in the poorer parts of the city.. so they didn't come around our area, but my paternal grandparents lived in those parts of the city so it was always a hi-light to see the rag men while we were visiting.

Well, that's a happy twist. :)
I don't think we had Rag Men in my area when growing up as I've never heard of them.
