Interior Ideas with Pictures

We will cut & fit the risers first. I'll stain them with the light stain & then go back with the darker color & seal them. That way I'll only need to touch up where the nails go in.

Painting would be easier, but the more I looked at the two-tone stain, the more I like it. If the first one doesn't work out, I'll go ahead with the paint. I don't like carpet & the only carpet we have are the stairs & two rooms upstairs. Slowly I'm getting rid of it.

Great project, Lilac. I'd love to see an "after" photo.
PS- I agree with stain rather than paint here. :)

🤣
Just while we're on the subject of staircases, I just ran across this-

Decals!

Wallpaper has made a big comeback. We recently took a home tour in our area and some of the more expensive homes built in the 60's and refurbished had wallpaper.

We had wallpaper installed in our guest bathroom and half-bath and it took us forever to find someone who was proficient at hanging wallpaper. It became a dying art. Now it's back. We didn't have big floral prints installed, but IMO it looks good in this bathroom.

Ohhhhh, I need this bathroom!

I've always been a fan of wallpaper. I think it really adds interest to a room. I remember though, back in the late ninetys I think, we were selling our house and the realtor said to strip all the wall paper because it was detrimental to the sale. I did, but what a job! There was one room in particular that it almost made me cry to strip it. It was beautiful paper and really made the room. Oh well...times change.

These are my favorite colors, anyway. I've always loved a small space of wallpaper in a tropical print on a black background like this. Not a whole room.

Oh, how sad!

Amazing young contractor has been remodeling our family vacation home from the late 1800's. Found this wallpaper under both wood paneling, then sheetrock. The silk backing was nailed!!!!! We saved this section to frame in glass for his office and this home. The original large windows are the imperfect glass panes, which only enhance the "distorted" beauty outside! Inspections next week!!!!

What an amazing find! I just love your idea of framing sections to display. Imperfect glass window panes are something I've never seen. Someday perhaps you'll share a few more photos?

I love rooting through old houses because you don't know what you'll find. We built our house, but our ground has a few old dumps its from previous farmers. We've found old bottles & a 1948 license plate that we cleaned & kept. Eventually, I'd like to display them in a cabinet. With the warm weather, I think I may go back & root some more.
