What is your city/town famous for?

My town used to be famous for growing celery. Most of the celery eaten in the United States came from here back then. So remember that fact the next time you get a hankering for crunchy, hairy water.

Celery's almost gone, though. Now we have to be (in)famous for the place where George Zimmerman lived. He may still live here for all I know. I hope not, though.

This used to be a port city with steamboats traveling up and down the St. Johns River to and from Jacksonville carrying produce and semi-frozen Northerners who came down South to thaw out in the sun. And eat celery.

It's also famous for not being Orlando. We're proud of that. We don't brag about it, but we do smirk occasionally when we think about it.

We have a zoo. We have a college. We have approximately 5000 bars or maybe it just seems like that many. We have two Walmarts and an almost-defunct mall.

midday 27th april 23 OZ - my town was infamous for stealing land from the first nation peoples making slaves of them and then agreeing to share some of it with them years later so today we have 50/50 still some poverty but people try to co-exist apart from the young kids who can run amuck?
