What is your city/town famous for?

I don't live there anymore but that's where I owned that house.

It's where Ishi emerged and was found by white people. What a heartbreak.

Ishi - Wikipedia

A large gold nugget was also found in the area years ago, reported it was melted down.

I was born and raised in Philadelphia Pa. We have the Liberty Bell and the Mummers Parade there. For some reason today I can't put any pictures in here.
Also and best of all:

I guess I'm suppose to say 'Music City'; many people come here for the Country Music.
Seems to just be a 'Party Town' now, for those who have given up on Vegas.

For me, it's that not many people I've met, where actually born here.
Must like me, moved here from somewhere else.

A changing place, in the middle of the South.

Still like it.

Wow, Riverside, 1 hour East of Los Angeles and with a population of 300,000, has a long list of accomplishments <List of landmarks in Riverside, California - Wikipedia> For example: (a) we still have the fruit-bearing parent navel orange tree, imported from Brazil in 1873 that started the California citrus industry. (b) Mount Rubidoux with the Junipero Serra Cross where in 1909 the tradition of the annual Easter Sunrise service started. (c) Of course, the Mission Inn <missioninn.com> a National Historic Landmark where U.S. Presidents stayed. (d) Then there is the University of California at Riverside, California Baptist University, La Sierra University, and Riverside City College. (e) A number of museums, a live theater, statues, and the list goes on and on. <Riverside, California | City of Arts & Innovation (riversideca.gov)> and pictures <riverside ca landmarks - Bing images> P.S., when I passed through Riverside in 1970, the smog was so bad that I couldn't find my way out anymore, LOL. The smog situation has improved, but I am still here and enjoy SoCal: 1 hour's drive up into the mountains (Onyx Pass/Summit has an elevation of 8,443 ft.), 1 hour to the Ocean, Los Angeles, the lower desert (Palm Springs), and the high desert (4,000 ft. with the Joshua Tree National Park,) 1 1/2 hours to San Diego, 2 hours to Mexico, 2 1/2 hours to the California Gold Coast with Santa Barbara, 4 hours to Las Vegas, etc. In fact, if it weren't for over-population, crime, and smog, Southern California would be a paradise.

We are the Red Poppy City. The Red Poppy festival is this weekend. Supposedly, a WWI soldier brought back poppy seeds from Europe, and his mother planted them in her front yard, and the proliferated. We are also famous for “The most beautiful Town Square in Texas.”

We have the rich and famous tucked away in the area, but more on the spot it is Lords and Ladies dating back 1000 years. Perhaps the horses are more famous than the people, and I am pleased to say horses are my neighbours rather than people. We have a river, alas not the hallowed waters of a Chalk Stream where a man may fish in the hope of a fresh run of Salmon or a Trout, but still a river is a river and the countryside is sweet on the eye.

@charry, we’ve been watching the TV series Grace, which takes place in your town. That structure you’ve pictured features prominently in the opening sequence. What is it? The remains of a pavilion? An old fishing pier? Something left over from the war? Dying to know!
It’s the west pier in Brighton carol, it closed in 1975 , dues to 2 arson attacks …it was constructed in 1860, google will tell you all about it ….

Grace is an interesting series……filmed in Brighton, Saltdean, and rottingdean

My home town is about 5 miles from there….and I lived 5mins from the Seven Sisters …..
