Gardening in 2023

Image

I've naturalized the area along my driveway with different kinds of daisies. They don't all bloom at the same time. These are the first ones to start blooming.

I gave my 'square foot gardens' to my eldest son. This year I am putting my garden in containers on our patio. I will have Three tomato plants, one being a cherry tomato, and one cucumber plant. I will use a mixture of 1/3 Compost, 1/3 Peat, 1/3 Vermiculite in each container. Hope we get lots of tomatoes and cucumbers...they are our favorites...

Comments please...

Sounds yummy....nothing beats fresh!!

Wow! It looks just like my yard..... NOT!!! LOL 😂

I don't have the time or energy to make (or keep up) anything that beautiful! 💗

No one does. This sort of estate garden requires an army of experts and laborers and the deep pockets to fund them. I can’t relate in terms of my own gardening and even what I used to be able to do is melting away. Ah well, I’ve always said a garden is a collaboration with nature. The less I can do the more nature must take over. Fortunately she doesn’t seem to object.

I love that perspective about gardening is a collaboration with nature!!!! I will have to steal it from you!!!!

Also, you are right about Ma Nature.....she has her own agenda and non of us are going to change her mind! 😉

We just got more rain yesterday. Weird. But spring is trying hard. Out front, as seen over the fence from the side yard, spires of Echium flowers

Roses are popping with Royal Sunset beside the gazebo in the lead as usual.

This is called Yellow Bleeding Heart vine, formerly called Dicentra. A fun shape to the flower.

Out back I’ve put the plants I took out of the raised bed to protect from a gopher back in but left them in pots to facilitate completing the rebuild and finally replanting for real once I think I’m gopher proof.

In the far left corner back there the red flowers over the top of the stairs and the orange flowers of Marmalade Bush are blooming big in spite of cooler than normal temperatures

Gopher....is that the same as moles? If you know a way to "mole prof" the yard/garden, please......share your secret!!!

I think a mole would be easier to contain but a gopher is able to climb out of the ground and over things to some degree. But I’m the wrong one to ask. I was a gopher virgin until this hell spawn showed up.
