It may be a rumor but I heard our walmart is going to all self checkouts!

I heard that our local walmart is going to all self checkouts and was wondering if any of you heard that about your walmart. I personally don't like them and have only used them a few times.Thanks
 

Not good! Last Friday we were only getting two things so we went to the self line. An employee came over after we were done and in a sappy voice asked if we found everything okay. "We're done," I said. Then she said after we pay a rating screen will come up. She asked us to give her 5 stars for her performance. "We're all done," I repeated. She went onto say she gets a bump and the store's rating will improve. "Huh", I said. "What performance will I be commenting on...the part where you asked for 5 stars??". She spun around and moved on to another couple.... Who instructed her to keep moving.
 
I always get pickup when I go to Walmart. The pandemic spoiled me for going into huge stores but I sometimes will run into the local Safeway or Sprouts. They are much smaller but also with a lot more self serve than they used to have.
 
If this is true I won't be shopping there anymore.
We do have self checkout but still a few cashiers in my local Walmart.
After walking through the store for my shopping there is no way I have the energy to do the checkout thing myself.
It is bad enough right now that we have to bag it ourselves after checkout. By that time I am to pooped and just drive home.
Not fair to seniors. :(
 
Fine with me. I started using self check-out as soon as they put it in my store. Faster and easier for me. Future stores will not have any check-outs. Your items will be scanned when placed in your shopping cart automatically.
 
I donā€™t mind self checkout if I donā€™t have a bunch of stuff. I donā€™t buy my groceries at Walmart and Winco only allows self checkout if you have 15 items or less.

Not future stores... Current stores.

Almost all of our supermarkets here have that facility already... you take a scanning gun as you walk into the store, by scanning your Credit or debit card.. ..and what happens once you finish your shopping, which is all packed in your bags already , you just go through a Coral type of area before leaving the store.. and you just pay at a machine. No need to take any shopping out.

Here's an example..this is 4 years old and almost every supermarket has this now.. and even more modernised since this Video was made.. but it's a very popular way to shop..

Walmarts probably the only self serve place I havenā€™t needed an attendant to help. I like not having to deal with others if I donā€™t need to so this really works for me.
 
Self-checkouts are not as intuitive as pumping your own gas. I've also noticed that the procedure can vary from store to store. Probably because of my own lack of familiarity with the process, I ended up overcharging myself and then had to take my stuff to customer service to get it all straightened out. Now when I use it, I act as stupid as possible and just ask the attendant to do it for me. They don't seem to mind but if there's only 3 people using a regular check out, I'll wait in line. If they close the checkout lines I won't shop there. Like someone else, most of the time I use curbside pickup when I go to Walmart, and then I don't have to deal with anything.
 
I like self check out because it's one less person I have to deal with.

But it is concerning about jobs and some people like my stepfather don't use and never have used self check out.

They should have both. Going all self check out isn't right.
 
That will never happen. There is a lot of scan and go check outs, at my local Walmart. But there are always some with cashiers. There will always be. A lot of people still pay with checks. I'm still one of them. You can only go to the check out with a cashier. People usually prefer cashiers. No store would be dumb enough to have no cashiers.

Now this looks better than scanning everything at the end of shopping.
 
Most of my shopping is small quantities so I prefer self-checkout now. The last two times I went through with a cashier at Walmart she made me bag my own groceries. I donā€™t want to deal with a miserable person. They always have 2 or 3 clerks on both side of the self-check areas; theyā€™re always friendly.
