Our version of retirement: Living a childhood dream

So, my lady doesn't know the name of these posies
They spring up every spring
But, between the deer dining on them and my errant weed eater, they have a very short life

Anybody know what these are?

Specifically, I think they are Dutch Iris ( as opposed to Bearded Iris).
if you dig one up and it has a bulb rather than a rhizome it is a Dutch Iris.

if you want them to continue growing and blooming in your yard every year then let the foliage alone to brown and die back naturally. Do cut the spent bloom off though.

if you want to get rid of them keep cutting the foliage off at the ground and eventually they’ll quit producing.

Majestic!

Seems there are two 'fall' seasons in town here
When leaves fall (I so love that)

and

when the petals fall

viewed lots of beauty when living in the mountains

Fall up there was snow fall

But so missed the deciduous trees

Speaking of foliage........don't know what this delicate little bush might be
It's in its glory right now
