What Was Your Main Job before Retirement?

I often think this when I see older people, once you
get grey or white hair, or a few more wrinkles, you
become an "Old Nuisance", to young people, we are
to have never had a life before, except for their own
grandparents, all others are nobodies!

I hade several different jobs, rather than be unemployed,
but my main one is Electrical Engineer, unless I am being
asked by a younger person, then I was an Electrician.

Consulting Engineer, Civil doing mostly environmental work. Contaminated site cleanups.

a pharmacy tech at a local hosptial worked 3 days/ wk,delivering narcotics to all the nursing units/ speciality units e.g ER,MICU{Medical Intensive Care},CCU{Critical Care Unit} I never thought I'd stay for 27 yrs

I held mostly clerical jobs and then administrative assistant and finally medical staff coordinator. Enjoyed the medical staff job the best.

Grocery stores in the beginning then went with Friehofers Baking for 26 years. 16 years as a delivery driver, 10 years inside as the dock supervisor

Cosmetologist, owner operator of Clever Clippers Beauty Salon, 20 years
Library Admin. Asst. for 10 years
Civilian employee for NY State Police, retired after 10 years.

Loved all three of these very different adventures!

Small business founder and owner of an engineering service company doing work for the U.S. Navy for 22 years. Built upon my previous job as a research scientist with the Navy as a federal employee for 30 years.

8 yrs cryptologic tech in usn, rest of life general laborer, last ten yrs county accounts payable.....

we could start a company and include Health and Admin or
we could form a government.

I was a Mental Health Tech in a state facility for several years, but the mandatory overtime policy nearly did me in. I went to work at one of our local hospitals on an acute psychiatric unit, and retired from there.

I enjoyed the very few times when all the job involved was dealing with information but absolutely detested the times (which was almost always unfortunately) when I was supposed to be a "cheerleader" for the higher-ups. (On second thought, the quote marks aren't really needed around the word cheerleader since that was the exact word that a higher-up used.)

lol..sometimes it must seem like you're still there..when you're on internet forums..

Also..wife and mother .. .. and then hard working single parent.. various jobs while my Daughter was growing up.. last and longest job was working within the BBC... as a TV & Film Production researcher...that led up to my retirment, but then I went back to work for an International Charity for several years after I retired.. as a salaried Area Manager ..
