A US man hurled two female American tourists 165ft down a ravine near a world-famous German castle

Horrible way to die or get injured.

So quick and casual about his use of violence. Wonder if now since he's in the system if there are some unsolved rapes, assaults or murders that will now have a suspect. I don't think this is his first time at an assault anyway.

I wonder when we might hear more about this, identities, etc. Does anyone know how the German system operates in regard to releasing information in criminal cases?

Found this...
A US tourist who was thrown to her death at Germany’s Cinderella castle has been identified as a recent university graduate from Illinois.

Eva Liu, 21, from Naperville, Illinois, died after plunging 165ft down a ravine during a day trip to the famous Neuschwanstein castle in Bavaria.

Liu and her 22-year-old friend Kelsey Chang had both graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign last month.

Kelsey from Bloomington Illnois was the one attacked by the Man... her friend Liu top pictures.. ran to her defence and was choked and thrown off the bridge by this man... and when he'd finished the attack on Kelsey he threw her off the bridge also.. miraculously a tree broke her fall and she survived

Transpires altho' the 2 ladies and the murderer didn't know each other they were part of a group of staying at the same budget hotel, and had travelled to the Bridge in the same coach as other tourists

In Germany, it is standard practice that police do not initially release the name of suspects that have been arrested.

Only after the investigation is almost complete will his name – and then only the first name – be made public.

Lovely young ladies. Thanks for finding that, Hollydolly. I'll keep an eye out for more info on the criminal. Of course our embassy is involved but our government is not known for sharing information quickly.

killing one after he ******ly assaulted her and her companion tried to fight him off, reports have claimed.

The horrific attack happened on Wednesday at Neuschwanstein castle, said to have been the inspiration for Disney's 'Cinderella' castle. The man was later arrested and is being investigated for murder, attempted murder and one ****** offence.

Footage from the scene purportedly showed him being led away in handcuffs.

The two women, aged 21 and 22, met the man, 30, near the Marienbrücke bridge, a narrow footbridge that at its highest point crosses 300ft above the gorge and offers stunning views of the castle.

The man allegedly persuaded them to follow him down a secluded trail that led to a good lookout point, where he 'physically attacked' the 21-year-old.

When her friend tried to intervene, he allegedly choked her and pushed her down a steep slope. Police believe 'an attempted ****** offence' was then committed against the 21-year-old, before she was also pushed down the slope.

She fell next to her friend some 165ft below. The pair were airlifted away, but the 21-year-old woman died in a hospital overnight, while her 22-year-old companion is still being treated for her injuries, according to German media reports.

The suspect fled the scene, but was caught after a massive police operation involving 25 emergency vehicles on Wednesday afternoon and taken to a police station in nearby Fuessen, it added.

A witness video posted online showed a man in a T-shirt, jeans and a baseball cap being led away in handcuffs by police, while another clip showed one of the victims being airlifted out of the ravine by a mountain rescue helicopter.

The video - filmed from above the ravine - also showed officials from the German mountain rescue service down in the gorge, working to save the women.

According to local police, the pair encountered the 30-year-old American tourist on a trail on or near the Marienbrücke bridge, which is hugely popular as it offers a view of the 19th century Neuschwanstein castle - which sees around 1.4 million visitors per year, and around 6,000 per day in summer.

He then brought them to a hidden trail leading to a viewpoint, and attacked the 21-year-old, said police. When the 22-year-old intervened, the man choked her and pushed her down a steep slope.

'According to the current state of knowledge, an attempted ****** offence to the detriment of the 21-year-old must be assumed,' said police in a statement in English.

The 21-year-old was also pushed down the slope, where she came to rest after falling nearly 50 metres, they added.

Criminal police have taken over the investigation into attempted murder and murder, as well as a ****** offence, with the current focus on reconstructing exactly how the incident took place, police said.

Under German law, suspects must be brought before a judge at a closed-doors hearing by the end of the calendar day after their arrest if investigators intend to keep them in custody.

I always wonder why they block out the faces of criminals. I guess criminals are protected but the victims are not. Makes no sense?

If he were a Canadian, he might get 3 years in jail. However, things are changing slowly here and serious criminals are starting to get longer jail terms. That is good news for a change.

I think it would be justice if this "ugly American" were also to be pushed down the canyon. You know what that ole bible says, "An eye for an eye."

OK, we've got part of this murderers name now.. it's Troy B.... that's all the German authorities have released. He's from Lincoln Park, Michigan

The second girl who was attacked and thrown down the ravine over 160 feet but whose fall was blocked by a fallen tree, was released from hospital today. In a statement she said the murderer who was unknown to them but on the same excursion coach, lured them in by pointing out that there was an excellent spot for selfies further down from the bridge..

About "protecting" people from having their full names in the news - this isn't exactly the same thing, but reading the paper this morning, I was struck by how absurd this is. It was an article about two teenaged transgender "women." They were treated with great respect and admiration for their courage in "coming out," out. And they were both identified by their first names and had lots of pictures of them at dance practice, shopping for dresses at the thrift shop, etc. Very identifiable closeups of their faces. The article explains that only their first names are used to protect their privacy.

Wha...?

The alleged killer lives in a small house in the town of Lincoln Park, Michigan, with his brother Trevor, 34.

He was unfriendly and would never greet anyone or look them in the eye, his neighbour told German newspaper Bild.

The brothers mostly stayed inside, only being seen outside to 'walk their cat on a leash in the garden', the neighbour added.

Here's the Bild story in English from the Daily Mail.

An American who allegedly threw two US tourists into a ravine in Germany reportedly likes to take his cat for walks on a leash and play Dungeons and Dragons, it has emerged.

Troy B, 30, allegedly pushed Eva Lui, 21, and Kelsey Chang, 22, down a ravine at the Neuschwanstein 'Cinderella' castle in Bavaria - killing the 21-year-old and injuring her friend.
