Not nearly so many as you. Bands I can remember, maybe not all bands really but my list is short can't leave a lot off:What live bands did you see?
Dizzy Gillespie and his band would have been a real treat to see. His puffy cheeks was his signature look. I love a great instrumentalistNot nearly so many as you. Bands I can remember, maybe not all bands really but my list is short can't leave a lot off:
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Crosby Stills and Nash (no Young unfortunately)
Clifton Chenier and his band, don't recall the name of it.
Willie Nelson and support
Pete Seagar and Arlo Guthrie, just the two of them.
Jo-El Sonnier and his band
Sweet Emma and her Preservation Hall Band
Pete Fountain and his Half Fast Walking Club
Vin Bruce and his band
Dizzy Gillespie and his band
Dizzy had to have been my favorite, Willie Nelson a close second. All were great experiences

Yes it was. And I was lucky, saw him in a small bar with a seat right at the stage. He was getting older, but still put on a great show.Dizzy Gillespie and his band would have been a real treat to see. His puffy cheeks was his signature look. I love a great instrumentalist
Isn’t that the best?Yes it was. And I was lucky, saw him in a small bar with a seat right at the stage. He was getting older, but still put on a great show.
From my teens on i generally had good friends, usually small groups, tho some of them lasted for decades. One of my two best friends from High School and i parted ways in our mid 20's, different life paths. That sounds like a really good birthday. It’s nice to have to considerate friends. I had some really good friends in my earlier years. It’s priceless stuff
I would have liked to have seen Riverdance live. The closest I got was seeing them on television but even that was great.I was never much of a concert goer. If I went to a concert it was at the behest of someone else.
I listen to music as a kind of meditative thing. usually when I'm doing some kind of work like drawing or sketching.
I've seen John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, Fish (former lead singer for 1980's band Marillion).
Those are the bigger names.
I've seen The Fab Faux Beatles Tribute band.
I once saw some guy who's band did Billy Joel and Elton John songs. That was one of my favorite shows because those songs are better done live.
I saw Australian Pink Floyd. Didn't care much for them. They played too many of the songs I don't care for.
I attended a performance of Riverdance.
I attended a performance of Mary Poppins as a live musical. That's a good show.
Every concert I attended was held in a small venue. John Denver was in a professional hockey arena but he had a way to make the concert feel small and more intimate.
Me too. Somehow I lucked out in the friends department. I had the best friends ever. They were fun, adventurous, entertaining and generous. If it weren’t for friends, I would not have seen all these concerts I had. There was an entire group of us that all hung out together so there was always something to do and a lot of parties. From my teens on i generally had good friends, usually small groups, tho some of them lasted for decades. But she found me on FB around 2007 or so. Life had helped her become her better self and it was almost like no time had passed. We communicated online and thru phone calls till she died in August 2021. I had hoped we'd see each other in person one more time.

Wow, you have quite the lineup! We've seen some of the same bands but I would have loved to have seen all the bands you've seen!Leaving home at 16 had its advantages. When I was younger, I had a lot of friends. Living close to Toronto offered many places to see live bands : The CNE, Ontario Place, The Toronto Hockey Arena, Canadas Wonderland and I literally saw hundreds of them.
Did I remember all of these? No! I had to look up popular bands from those decades. Some jazz bands and certain pop singers I’ve probably forgotten about but writing out this list brought back a lot of happy memories. Some memories were with my brother who I lost far too early in life but I still have those wonderful memories.
Apparently music is the last memory the human brain hangs onto.

Some of these bands were front bands for the bands I chose to see
I sound like a groupie but I can assure you that I wasn’t.
What live bands did you see? Any particular favourites?
There may have been older threads posted about the same topic, but there are new members here that weren't part of those threads. Topics are resurrected all the time. For me, it is fascinating to hear about all the bands @PeppermintPatty has seen.So a vaguely posed music thread to generate conversation.
Are older threads over last couple years with same essential subject. The last such thread was only answered directly by those that have seen a few bands since such tends to be easy to recall, while those that have seen many bands almost never keep a log. Even a decade later unlikely to recall much. And yeah have likely seen more classic rock era bands than any other members because of where I've lived and when.
No, I worked at a pet shop when I was a teenager, had good friends and lucked out living where I did. I think location was the biggest factor in having access to such a variety of live music.Wow! You must have worked at your local auditorium?
What happened at the van Morrison concert?Very few. The last band I saw was 10 cc at a free open-air concert in Ypres, Belgium. The worst 'gig' was going to see Van Morrison. It was the nearest I've come to a near death experience.
