Notes from Pappy's diary

Well people, there’s never a dull minute in Pappy’s house. Thelma has been wearing a pair of my old hearing aids while hers are being repaired. Yesterday, she went to remove one of them and the rubber tip came off. I tried to get it out with a pair of tweezers but it was just in too far. So we went over to her hearing aid place and the gal that runs it was able to remove it. Hopefully her repaired aids will be back soon.

I think that Wednesday is open so I may get a long over due haircut. Thursday is off to the foot doctor for the wife’s nail cutting. Friday she is off to the hairdressers for a cut. Never a dull minute around here.

‘My son and DIL are in Ireland on vacation. He sent a couple photos I have added. He says these are the cliffs of Kerry.

I don’t know what’s going on with New Balance sneakers, but I am sending back for the second time because of wrong I ordered a pair for Thelma and they are definitely smaller in size than the old pair. Same shoe, same size, same width. Told Amazon to give me credit to my account this time. Will buy locally so she can try them on.

Went to my back doctor yesterday and they asked me for my photos. I told them that the hospital would send them to doctor. They didn’t, so today I’ve got to go to records department and get them myself. Had to reschedule my visit and was very disappointed for sure.

Stopped at vegetable market and bought two large beefsteak tomatoes and lettuce. A cucumber for slicing with vinegar, salt and pepper added. Going to have BLTs for dinner. Yummy and fresh.

That’s it for today. Pappy.

Nice photos..but OMG it looks like winter in Kerry...

Ended up going to Kohls for mamas sneakers. Found just what she wanted at a fair price and got back a $10 coupon for next time we shop there. Mission accomplished.

Today is my appointment at the spine clinic. Picked up my X-rays from the hospital and We will review them at the clinic. I hope that there is something they can do, unlike the other doctors telling me to more or less live with it or prescribing a medical that doesn’t work.

I follow Kat’s diary and so hope the “bug” situation is taken care of soon. Also that this aide finally works out. Those who might not know this, but Kat’s apartment is in my old high school building. They have converted it into nice apartment’s like so many other school buildings have done. Who knows…maybe she is in my old homeroom. 😋

Thank you! I have been praying every night for those pesky bugs to be gone from my life for good.

I have been hearing that this old school is the most haunted building in Norwich. I haven't seen anyone in my apartment yet.

Thelma and I use Saturdays to replenish our pill holders. Almost gotta laugh when I look at these photos. Last count, I am taking 9 prescribed meds and Thelma five. A few are supplements and most of mine are heart related. Thelma has no thyroid, cancer years ago, so she needs her meds for sure. Not showing is my Pradaxa blood thinner. I guess they probably help, as I’ve lived this long, but at times I wonder just stopping all meds. Don’t dare take that chance.

Gave up on my back doctor. The receptionist is so snotty and miserable so I told her to forget the whole thing. I ask her why are they sending me to get an MRI 40 miles away when we have many right here in town. She gave me a dirty look and said we don’t have any MRI’S locally. We do, I have been to them. I hate negativity towards the public.

Between rain drops, my lawn guy Jimmy and his helper, mowed and put mulch around our trees and bushesIMG_1920.jpegIMG_1919.jpegIMG_1915.jpeg and trimmed our palm tree in front. He lives directly across from me so it’s handy to get ahold of him

I’ve rambled long enough for today, but more news coming later…Pappy

I signed on to Senior Forums this morning and nothing happened. It wouldn’t load. So putting self destruction aside, I was really having a panic attack…I tried a few more times but by then it was time to take Thelma to ankle doctor.

‘Got home about 1 pm and tried signing on again..oh Lord, what to do. I didn’t wish my friends good morning and it’s almost 2 pm. Then I thought to myself, Pappy, turn off the iPad and let it reset. Bingo, it worked and I’m back on SF again. It’s amazing how one looks forward to gabbing on a web site and all of a sudden it’s not there.

It was almost 1 pm when we got home and we enjoyed a half Publix sub. There are the best..hands down. Just back in the house after watering the plants and looking around our house to check that everything was okay. It’s now 3 pm and I need a short nap. Pappy.

Today I had an ultrasound on my prostrate and results looked good. I had a size score of 27 and normal is 30. I was over 200 before procedure.
Took Thelma to lunch and then went to Dels Freez for a peanut butter soft cone and a choc, vanilla twist for me. We are now home and listening to thunder and rain. At least it cooled it down somewhat.

Very good news Pappy. Very worthy news of celebrating with a yummy ice cream cone

That is good to hear! It was in the 80's here today and I had to walk to my hair appointment on S. Broad St. Busy, busy day downtown. They are working on the streets and it is dusty, dirty and noisy. But should be nice when they finish. Have a great night!

Most of Saturday, all day Sunday and this morning, I have not been able to sign in to SF. I tried everything I could do but nothing. SF would not load. Last resort I tried Bing and got through but still was having trouble signing in to SF. Nothing seemed to work. Now, all of a sudden, I signing like normal. Was there a problem I’m not aware of?

Yes, it was for those of us using iPads. Matrix fixed it. Yippee.

Was your old homestead on County Road 10A? My friend is looking at a small one bedroom stone house there. I will probably end up going with her to look at it unless it is sold before she gets to see it. She is sick right now. It is up that VERY big hill!

I’ll bet it’s the all stone house that’s for sale. That house is built like a bunker. And, it’s the house my grandparents built in 1951. I saw the ad and it has been updated quite bit. We lived in the old place just below there. Oh, and behind the the stone is 8 inch cinder blocks filled with Schaefer beer cans…

As I mentioned in other threads, my daughter, granddaughter and two greats came to visit a couple days. Violet and Haylee are the giggliest two I seen for awhile. Violets going in 5th grade and Haylee is going in 6th grade. They are so full of energy I got pooped just watching them. A couple photos I took down at the Castaway Park. Haylee is the blue hair waving and Violet is younger but taller. Her brother Logan is 6’ 8”.and 16 years old.
