Notes from Pappy's diary

Very good news from our community one-call -now. The police have cleaned out the tent city in our woods as of yesterday. We were told not to visit the site because of so many needles and drug stuff. I wouldn’t go near there anyway.

‘Have decided to get a nice 3 wheeler from Amazon. No one locally wants to deliver and I can’t do it. I have a nice spot in my shed to keep it as bikes in our community seem to have a way of disappearing overnight.

And that’s the way it is today..Pappy.
Good to hear they cleaned out that tent city. Where did all those people go? The problem here is that city council is trying to figure out where to put the homeless people.

I can't wait to see your trike. Will you have to assemble it?

What a shame about the encampment in your woods. Will the city remove the dangerous trash?

That’s a good question Kat. They probably moved on to some other patch of woods. We have a huge homeless problem here in Florida and locally.

Yes, the trash will be removed by folks that handle hazardous materials. It will need some assembly but I’ve done it before so it shouldn’t be a big problem if my back holds up. I haven’t ordered the bike yet because I put a note in our clubhouse to see if anyone in the community has one for sale.

Woke up to some well needed rain, but it didn’t last long. Right now, 4:40, it’s sunny and 84 degrees out. Just got back from having my car service by the dealer. Washed it up and it looks so nice now.
Since I have installed a Ring camera in the back of the house, I’ve Seen 6 cats, one Bob cat, a very slow moving possum. Oh, and two raccoons. They sure move about when it’s dark out.

My oldest son and his wife will be coming from the state of Washington for a weeks visit on the 17th of this month. So looking forward to seeing them again. It’s been about three years since they were here before.

‘That’s about all the news here today. Pappy.

I’m happy to say that my visiting nurse graduated me out of their program today. They have been coming for 5 weeks and were very helpful in answering my questions about my prostrate procedure. Still have a bit of blood, now and then, but Itold not to be concerned about it. I pray that it will help in the long run.

‘Very icky day here today. Wind, rain and cool weather. The forecast for the rest of the week doesn’t look much better. Went up and got coffee

and a couple lottery scratch off tickets. No winners today.

My three wheel bike came today and it is sitting out in the Florida room. I think I bit off more than I can chew by ordering it disassembled. Tomorrow I’ll try to get everything out of the box and see how complicated it’s going to be. My son is coming on the 17th of April and he can help me if need be. I’ll do as much as I can daily, but my back has its limits.

Catch you all later…Pappy

Happy Graduation! You're gonna be fine. I bet you're excited about your trike but watch that back. When your son gets there you can both get it done. Does it have a horn?

My oldest son, Dave Jr., and my DIL will be here on the 17th for a weeks visit. Long trip as they live in Lakewood, WA and it’s been 3-4 years since we have seen them. Getting excited for their visit. Doesn’t seem possible that he is 65 years old.

Well, now I’ve done and did it. My three wheel bike as it sits in my Florida room waiting to be assembled. It’s not that I can’t do it, but my back only lets me do just so much and that’s it. :( Hey, forgot my sons coming Monday. :) so reinforcements are on its way. I’ll toss in a couple photos to show you what has to be done. Thanks for reading my diary. Pappy

Six weeks Tuesday since I had my roto-rotor procedure done on where the sun don’t shine. TURP is its official name. I happy to say that things are much better the last two

days than before. No signs of blood and emptying out entire bladder. Yeah..

Enough of that business for now. I have made an appointment at a spinal office April 24th at 1 pm. Need to have someone knowledgeable enough to really get some help. I have suffer since I retired, in 1999, and it keeps getting worst each day. Had a nice visit, by phone, this morning and they sounded like they might be able to help.

Thelma and I got the house ready for my sons visit. I’ll miss my bathroom but it’s sure worth it to see him after many years. So like a bad penny, I shall return. Thanks for listening to my babbling.

Boy, this week went by fast. My son was kind enough to put my new bike together and it’s ready to go except for some fine tuning. My DIL, who is a Korean sweetheart, is a fantastic cook. She took over our kitchen and made every meal for the week. She didn’t make Kimchi thank heavens as I tried this a long time ago…WOW.
I am totally blessed for my kids. They are always looking out for their mom and dad.

Amost 6 weeks to the day, my procedure is now working as designed to work. Emptying my bladder completely, no more blood in urine and almost sleeping through the night. Still get up around 3 am each night. What a relief finally.

This Monday, at 9 am, I have an interview with a spine clinic to get to the root of the back pain I’ve have since the 90s. Nothing has worked up to now but I keep hoping that someone can give me some relief.

Enough about me. I notice a lot of you folks suffer with hip and back pain too. I only hope you have found a way to get relief. Last weeks glitch on the Senior forum seems to have corrected itself. My posts and photos are doing great now. For a couple days I couldn’t do much without waiting for posts to load. I think of the old saying, If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

I think I’ve rambled on long enough for this Saturday morning. Beautiful, sunny, warm day down here.82 degrees out there right now. Cute little guys. I’m not a cat person but is just to cute.

Pappy, I always enjoy your posts.

You sound happier than ever now. Got to see your son and DIL, new trike, surgery successful, etc. Now, the back remains to be dealt with.

I zoomed in on your new avatar and let me tell ya, you look fantastic! I love the shirt, too.

Are you and Mrs. Pappy growing anything special in your yard this season?

No Rose. Just my wife’s flowers in the front flower pots. We don’t have a garden anymore so just the grass and keeping the outside looking nice.

Getting more creative with my crockpot stews now. Been smelling this all day and in about 2 hours I’ll tackle a big bowl of it. Got some fresh biscuits to go with it too.

‘My son and DIL got back to Lakewood, WA about 8 pm our time. 5 pm their time. Good flight and I’m sure they were happy to get back on their schedule as well.

Been quiet here today. Didn’t sleep well again. I’m fine until I get up at 2:30-3:00 to use the bathroom. Then I never can get back to sleep. So frustrating.

I see the back doctor Monday at nine. Praying that he can give me some relief. See you all later. Pappy

Monday I finally went to a spine clinic and glad I did. The doctor sat down and suggested we start with some X-rays and something for inflammation, which he thinks it might be. If this doesn’t help, he will try a different approach. Shots, surgery, PT, etc.
It was so good to finally listen and explain things to me like human to human. No rush on his part.

Will go up, after lunch, to pick up prescription and take wife to get her hearing aid adjusted again. Food drop tomorrow at clubhouse and bingo Thursday pm. That’s all folks.

Finally it’s happened. For two years we have tried to get this drug house out of our community. We call it the bubble house. The cops haven’t been able to catch anyone until yesterday. A bunch of druggies got together and a fight started. Call came in that one person was stabbed and laying on front lawn. Cops, helicopter and

medical people came. Guy responsible for the stabbing took off. I have heard that the house has been condemned and people going to jail. Thank the Lord.
‘Took a couple pictures from my golf cart but didn’t want to get to close.

On Wednesday, I forgot to add these photos of New Haven Ave. in front of my Kia dealers building. This is hail, not snow. We didn’t get quite this much but enough to know it hailed. Anyway, this weather sticks around until Monday when the sun makes a new effect to shine again.

The Methylprednisolone the back doctor prescribed, seems to be helping some. I’ve have 2 good nights of sleep because the back pain has gotten better. Don’t want to be on it long though. Look at the after effects it can cause:
IMG_1826.jpeg

It calls for 7 days. I’m on my 4th day. Née to get my X-rays next week. Next appointment is May 16. Pappy

Forgot the hail photos.IMG_2472.jpegIMG_2473.jpeg

@Pappy, good to know you're getting spinal relief and able to sleep through the night. Watch out for the "hungries", omg prednisone makes people so hungry they eat too much.

I was on it for a short time and that's all I wanted to do was eat. I gained weight during that phase! My goodness, I was in Costco one day and grabbed a jar of macadamia nuts, opened it in the store and started eating them! Of course I paid for them, but that's how hungry I was.

Wow, you had some action at you neighborhood! Did you feel like you were on "Cops"? I wonder if the stabbing victim lived? I'm glad that the place is cleared and shut down. You have such a pretty neighborhood.

Got a kick out of your accumulated hailstones at this time of year!

How was your crockpot stew?

Rose. Haven’t hear a word about drug house except it’s barricaded from getting in, not that anyone would want to enter it..
I should be okay on the drug because I only have 3 more days to take it. My stomach has been a little upset last couple days.
The stew was the best I’ve made yet. Still one serving left in freezer.
Ive been here 24 years, off and on, and this is the 2nd time I’m seen hail like this. Some places were shoveling the ice like snow. Crazy weather anyway, all over the country.

Today we took Thelma’s hearing aids back again. Won’t charge. I suspect battery is dead. So technician took them to send in to repaired. They are still under warranty which I was thankful for.
Then we went over to my medical center to get my back X-rays and….their machine is broke. Now I need to find someone that can do it tomorrow.
Traffic here has improved a little as we are losing our snowbirds that are going home. We did this for 20 years and that was about 10 years more than I planned.
Monday I started cleaning out my workshop. It was a total mess in there. Need the room to finish tuning up my new bike.
83 and windy here today but nice and pleasant in the house. Later folks. Have a great day.
