How much outdated electronics do you have around the house?

Do you have a calculator stuffed in a box you haven't used in years? Do you still have a phone with a cord connecting the receiver? How about a radio? VCR? How much outdated electronics do you have around the house?
I have old calculators but use them. Also I have an electric can opener from the late 1960s that works just great and I use it frequently. The paint is worn in a spot or two but when it ain't broke, don't fix it or throw it away. They don't make appliances / electronics that last anymore. :)

Wow those are the coolest phones ever...the old ones that is!!!
thank you, I have more... and I used to have loads more because my hobby at one time was to buy vintage house phones, clean them up.. and digitise them to work on modern connections.. then sell them. The one I kept in my collection are all still in their original condition... except for 2.. this one I use as my bedroom phone...

No! I've never been a hoarder. I'm more of a throw away-er. I've thrown away some stuff that I thought were useless. A year or so later I think of the item, and decide to use it for something, only to find out that I don't have it anymore.

We have updated most of our electronics within the last couple of years. TV, Ring system, Alexa and a couple more. Just threw out a 1st generation Alexa, 8 track player that ate all the tapes I had. A few more things that I can’t think of right now.
yes so far I've dispensed with 2 first generation google Home Hub nests and replaced them with updated versions..

If it works & I use it, I keep it. If it doesn't, it goes out along with cords that you don't remember what they had been attached to. I like the older kitchen appliances because they last. Some of my favorites in the kitchen don't use electric.

I still have a landline & old phones similar to @hollydolly. I just bought new cord & for my no-dial candlestick phone & it's working again. I use my calculators.

I have 6 large boxes of cables that I gave away a few months ago to a kid collecting scrap to take to the scrapyard. I showed him how to strip the insulation off of the wires and then sell the copper wiring by itself. I guessed he would get a few pounds of copper from it. I will ask him when I get back home on Monday.

I disposed of most of that kind of junk in 2008 but it is starting to build up again out in my carport where I temporarily chucked an old microwave and space heater. During my younger years, built much electronic stuff that is long gone.

But all is not lost. In my carport storage cabinets are two vacuum tube Tektronix CRT oscilloscopes that at least one a few years ago, was still capable of a displaying trace waveform on the CRT but practically, are rather useless without $$$ value. In the mid 1970's worked for 5 years at Ampex Corporation, one of the early video tape machine pioneers in Silicon Valley that at the time employed 4000. As an old company they had much old test equipment that I spent 2 + years working on as a test, repair, calibration tech. Thus got 2 scopes for free they were otherwise tossing out.

I have no, zero, outdated electronics.

Cousin has everything known to mankind. He still has a black dial phone hooked up, but his other outdated stuff just sits around gathering dust. He doesn't believe in getting rid of anything if he can possibly help it.

I am a firm believer in having no clutter.

I have my collections but there's no clutter...Only one phone is on display at a time.. the rest are in the cupboards :D

We have oodles, to numerous to list. Have an 8-Track player and rotary phones. We restore vintage radios. ( innards and outards :) ) Not to sell, just collect. Have some very old ones. Still have a few that we haven't gotten around to restoring.
We do have some of them new fangled gizmos too. :giggle:

it always makes me laugh that some people equate collections with clutter ( not you).. not everyone lives in a mess collections or not... I certainly don't.. all my collections have specific places where they live very tidily
