What are you doing today 2023

I updated the Google document for my son that contains my pertinent login information. I also deleted several photos in my Google photo app.

I had to clean the bathroom three times today. I unexpectedly was able to, with the help of our maintenance supervisor, finally get someone in here to look at the vent fan in the bathroom. It started making this loud screeching and scraping sound a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to clean the tracked litter off the floor before he got here and had to move Deja’s box to the storage closet. I cleaned the sink then covered it with a garbage bag.

After he finished, even though he cleaned up after himself, more debris fell down into the sink whenever the vent fan was on. So I cleaned the sink the second time, then a third. Debris must’ve gotten on the bottom of my slippers because after Swiffer-ing twice, I still found dirt on the floor, so I changed slippers and Swiffer-ed again.

He had on a nice Bermuda short set and what looked like a Kangol cap but he smelled bad, like he’d been sweating and didnt take the necessary shower or bath! I literally had to spray the house with Microban before he even left. I was glad he saved me money, or so I thought, because he felt cleaning and oiling the fan would do the trick and save me money. He showed me that there was a big clump of dust in there. It was working better and quieter when he was here but it started screeching again, though intermittently and not as bad as before. The fire department is coming to check the vent fans and detectors in our units next week. Violation fees will be passed on to the owners who are cited. I hope the fan holds up until then, at least.

We had another severe thunder storm. It took out the WiFi, but only for a few minutes. When the storm was over we headed ou, we had to check the fences again after that big blow. Good thing we did, there was a huge branch down, and it was on the electronic fence! We also had several whole trees just snap off and break. Luckily these were not where the fences are. We had a lot of branches and debris everywhere! We finished cleaning up the mess just in time, as the next storm was heading towards us!

I've read some posts...good night!

I am on a strange schedule, went to bed at 7 with the help of medication, up at 1am. I have made boiled shrimp, cocktail sauce, coleslaw. Baked a pound of bacon, just took brownies out of the oven. Used some of the bacon grease and made the dogs scrambled eggs, hid their medications in those.

Thinking of spreading a can of cherry pie filling and walnuts on top of the brownies for something different.

I have yellow squash, corn on the cob, a new bag of potatoes for baking. We should be good around here for a few days. Of course now I have a sink full of dishes to take care off. The oppressive heat is back so I don't want to go out unless I have to.

Stay cool, hydrated be safe if you have to go out. We are having a lot of people getting heat stroke.

Wow, I am awake so early!!!! Think it was due to heat issue....anyhoo I'm here and planning to make sausage gravy later this morning....Health agency supvr

Just been out topping the hedges in the back garden... I have to get on the highest rung of the ladder now to reach them.. and the high reach hedge trimmer is very heavy for me to use, so it's pretty exhausting to do.. . I've done one side of the garden.. I'll tackle the rest in an hour or 2 when my hands stop shaking from gripping that heavy trimmer..

Yesterday neighbor mentioned hanging out in a cat shelter just to look....
Sounds good to me. So many lovely kitties. 🐈‍⬛

Can you find someone near you to do trimming and the harder parts of taking care of your garden, Holly? The highest rung of the ladder with a heavy trimmer in hand sounds a little dangerous to me.

I had lunch with my girls yesterday and we tackled a couple of difficult subjects. It seems son-in-law is not doing well health wise and it sounds downright scary. It's never good when doctors can't figure out what's wrong. On the other hand, grandson got a great summer job that pays more than the usual, so that's good. He'll be going back to school in the fall.

I was so tired last night. It was soooo hot yesterday. It was a heat attack just getting from the restaurant to the car in the parking lot. I was cool enough in the house but for some reason I still got really tired. So, early to bed only to wake up at 3am because I went to bed too early. Today will be another hot one.

Add that to your dating profile, "Requirements: Must be tall and able to trim hedges." ;)

Overcast skies this morning.
We need rain.

Husband is done bringing more parts of trees to the woodlot.
This morning he's splitting & stacking wood before it gets too hot.

Walked Mac for his first walk of the day,,,,now he's curled up in a chair,,sleeping.
Resting for his next walk?

Would like to bake a peach pie for hubby,, don't like bake in this heat wave we are having.

Stay cool everyone

Today……looks like a inside day……started raining about 7am……Micki out for her jobs, but no walk, she wasn’t impressed.

What have I been doing…..organizing…..reorganizing…..getting my routine in place more and more all the time.
A good part of the times when Micki and I are out for our walks……we meet, stop and talk to many residents…..and Micki continues to be a real ham, wants everyone to stop and pay attention to her.

Can hardly believe I’ve been here a month tomorrow…..time is flying by.

Still waiting for summer…..it has been unusually cool, some days almost cold, for the last 2 weeks…..promises of warmer temps for the weekend.
Haven’t had the AC on for the last 2 weeks either.
WOW…..the days are getting shorter…..I’m not ready for that.

Have eaten out 3 times since I’ve been here, and ordered take out pizza from Pizza Hut, last nite for supper.
Do you want to hear something totally weird……
I called the local # here to order……it connected me to an order base in Ontario !!!!!! Our neighbour province to the east.
Went to pick it up in 20 minutes.

Talk about the ways of today’s technology…..🙃🥴😉😳😊.

That’s it from this homestead for now……better go do some rainy day stuff.

Gosh, sometimes these types of apartment issues, that seem like they should be minor, create the list of extra difficulties that you described.:oops::rolleyes:o_O

You've sure had a series of challenging events! It's good to see you, when you are able to post updates, for us.:)

Getting on with the balcony tile lift while I can.
The dirt underneath is unbelievable. All from the building construction going on around me.
When I lift one row I have to sweep up right away as the wind from the lake can be quite strong
and it was blowing it all over the place.

Decided to store them in my locker and that will be several trips down to bowels of the building.
That way I can forget about them.
The thumb that isn't there is quiet while I am doing this work.
It tried to get in the way but I won out so that is one plus.

Oh gosh, Holly. Be exta careful, though I am not sure how.:rolleyes:
Thanks for the concern Kaila.. (y) the trouble with the back is that where the one hedge is on one side.. the ground is very uneven.. that creates a problem with the ladders because it can make as much as 3 inches off the ground for one or more legs ..so I bought some Rubber ladder levellers, which work well and keep the ladders steady on the grass.. however because the extended reach trimmer is so heavy.. when I stand on the top rung.. ( the ladders are 5 rungs high).. the weight tries to pull me over as I am trimming the top and far side of the hedge.. It's quite a scary experience, but I have to do it...there will come a time sooner or later when I'm going to have to pay a gardener to come in and do it.. just putting it off for as long as poss because gardeners here are expensive..
