My homeowner's insurance took a leap!

Mine has gone up gradually, but not taken a $200 jump. This year it's at $1055 here in Alabama with State Farm.
Was your $899 for a new policy? Did you file a claim in the last year?
Just an aside, for New York, I'd have expected the coverage to cost much more.

The insurance on my new house started in 2021 and I haven't filed any claims.

I called the broker's office, but of course got an answering service. Waiting to hear back.

I called the insurance office and the agent explained it was because of "increased replacement costs." She said last year the cost on my house was around $288K. This year it's around $320K due to increased prices of building materials.

Be glad you're not in Florida.
The Insurance Information Institute estimates the average cost of home insurance across the nation is $1,700 compared to $6,000 in Florida. That’s a 42% hike since last year and a 100% spike over the past three years.
My friend in Florida said his homeowner’s insurance went up about $400. He had his home gone after last year’s hurricane. He has a nicer home now and new furniture. I think he had to get this newer home inspected and then they will send him an updated bill. I’m guessing it’s going to be a lot higher.
