Mine has gone up gradually, but not taken a $200 jump. This year it's at $1055 here in Alabama with State Farm.
Was your $899 for a new policy? Did you file a claim in the last year?
Just an aside, for New York, I'd have expected the coverage to cost much more.

The insurance on my new house started in 2021 and I haven't filed any claims.
I called the broker's office, but of course got an answering service. Waiting to hear back.

Starting with me! Our homeowners insurance is three times that much... and it's not anywhere near a big house... very small land lot. Golly.

I called the insurance office and the agent explained it was because of "increased replacement costs." She said last year the cost on my house was around $288K. This year it's around $320K due to increased prices of building materials.

My friend in Florida said his homeowner’s insurance went up about $400. He had his home gone after last year’s hurricane. He has a nicer home now and new furniture. I think he had to get this newer home inspected and then they will send him an updated bill. I’m guessing it’s going to be a lot higher.

My homeowners insurance went up $980 from last year. We're being zip code red lined, they somehow think we're at greater wildfire risk.
