Sinéad O’Connor, acclaimed Dublin singer, dies aged 56

She has been mentally tortured for many years now... She had four children, a pair of grandchildren, four ex-husbands and an ex-boyfriend...

a few years ago.. she got herself holed up alone in a run down motel somewhere in the USA.. and posted a plea on Facebook referencing suicide. She scared the wits out of her family, who rescued her after a search..She converted to Islam soon after..but Sinead, has always been full of self loathing, no amount of intervention changed that and she always vowed to take her own life. She was addicted for 3 decades to Marijuana.. she was full of anger as well... often she would explode with rage if things weren't going her way.. and other times she'd be like Mother Theresa. She hated Ireland with a Passion... always felt she should have been born in the USA..but felt trapped in Ireland because her family was there...
During one concert in the 90's she ripped up a picture of the Pope while on stage
Immediately following the incident, the backlash was fierce. O'Connor was banned for life from NBC. The Anti-Defamation League condemned her and conservative groups boycotted her music.

She lived with the horrors of her abusive childhood from her strictly religious mother..

For many years, we in the UK have expected her to die at any time.. her very brilliant mind was completely broken beyond repair... may she R.I.P

Oops. I think picked the wrong one.
The report I read said she had gone on a bike ride early in the morning and a close friend reported her missing and thr police found her body.

Sorry about that.
No apology necessary @PeppermintPatty, I was just curious as I thought I remembered that from quite a long time ago. (y) I haven't heard the report you mention but, sadly, it sounds likely.

I remember her debut on SNL last century then saw her a few decades later with alot of tattoos and to me that was the tell it wasn't going to end well. She obviously had a lot going on in her mind. She seemed like a very confident young pop star with a huge future in front of her but it's like she came in and out of the lime light through out her career.

RIP

Other than her powerful songs that were hers, I remember her in the mid 90's watching her perform on video with her huge voice with The Chieftains and then later with the band Simple Minds performing on the song, "Belfast Child". It was at that time watching that performance with Simple Minds, I was somewhat hopeful she was going to get it back together. She had such a beautiful and powerful voice. May she rest in peace.

Thank you Hollydolly. I have learned a lot more about her from yearing your posting than all the news stories on the media. For some reason media just gives us the "barebones" of the story without the details. I have tons of music at home but nothing of her's. I guess her shaved off hair and her politics are just not my "thing." I guess that converting to Islam just didn't help her.

The moment Sinead tore up the Pope’s picture.
In protest of s***** abuse of children by the Catholic Church and they were doing nothing to help.

Here she sings a capella Bob Marley’s song about “war.”

Rest in Peace Sinead …
