Will try, as usual, to stay sane and not cry.

My friend/neighbor has called cat shelters on my behalf. Wait for it!!!!! They want $250; very personal information; some want home visits with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the ..........

Not time yet anyway, still haven't cleaned all former residue.

Staying in, chilling today .. after having driven a couple of hours yesterday, to have lunch with eldest nephew
and his wife. We went to a Turkish restaurant (she's Turkish). Decent food, a bit pricey. We enjoyed catching up, and were able to dine at the outdoor patio. Thankfully, it was not too humid or too hot. They're taking her
mother (who has dementia) to Turkey, in September. I hope the trip goes well.

It's another drive-by post for me today. Right after breakfast I'll be heading over to my Mom's for the day. I have a long to-do list of things that I want to take care of for her. She also has a long to-do list for me!!!

I expect it to be a looong day!

I gotta' run! Good day to all!

When in Spring, do those schools end for the summer, I wonder? Do they go, 5 days a week? Just curious.
School calendars have shifted from my youth. I went back after Labor Day and got out mid to late June.

Most schools in So Cal (at least) now start classes around the second week of August and get out the last week of May or very early June. This mirrors college calendars, where the semester is over by the December break rather than (as we dealt with) dribbling into January.

Since (most) public school semesters are 18 weeks, starting classes mid August gets everyone finished before the holidays.

Even as a kid I thought it was stupid to have midterm exams a few weeks after the holidays (when everyone had already forgotten the history names and dates we were supposed to memorize) rather than starting with fresh material.

I agree, pet adoption procedures have gotten very strange and pricey. Public shelters are quickly stripped of the best (meaning most adoptable) animals by "rescue organizations" that are supposedly non-profit, but a whole bunch of people seem to be making a living off of them.

Since we are all paying for the public shelters via taxes, it's frustrating and infuriating to deal with these rescues when adopting an animal. My advice is to steer clear of rescues.

Our 37+ year old Whirlpool set has been acting up so I'm chauffeuring mama north to OKC this morning to look at new washers and dryers at a couple different places.

I've done a bunch of research and they're expensive but are supposed to be worth the money so we're sorta leaning towards a Speed Queen TR7 set if we can get a decent deal......we'll see.

If you see a big ol' boy standing on the corner today holding a cardboard sign asking for money for a new washer and dryer I'd sure appreciate it if you'd drop a few dollars in my can. :)

Not long back from London... absolutely lashing down of rain.... 🌧️🌧️⛈️⛈️

Went to visit my friend who lives in North London..she's not so well, so I took her some cheery up stuff... cake, fruit, magazines etc...

I stopped off on the return, at M&S.. and Tesco superstores... and got a couple of weeks worth of groceries, and stocked up on my favourite M&S cheese scones as well as Sultana scones..they're the only shop bought scones that don't give me heartburn..

The roads weren't too busy.. and M&S was quietish.....but Tesco had long queues at the checkouts..

@CinnamonSugar ...what @Trila said. And sugar melts in the rain🌧️.

I'm up. Gonna be hot again today. Kitchen wall washing today.

After I have coffee:coffee:.

Don't ask. I ain't gonna do your walls, too.
Aw shucks...
I was gonna ask you to help me clean off my balcony. Got most of it cleared but there is a storage bin which I use for cushions etc and I need to get that inside before balcony work starts....whenever ????? ..but that needs to be cleaned first...
......yes coffee first is good idea

@hollydolly have you tried Apricot Sponge Roll from M&S, very moorish , I shall try their Scones .
No, Lady...I don't like Apricot...so I wouldn't have noticed them but thanks .. yes do try their scones.. they're expensive if you buy them individually ..they're baked in store.. but they sell them packed in 4's on the bakery aisle, and they're cheaper to buy that way..£2.20 for 4...I buy 5 packs , and freeze them individually.. as I've just done a few mins ago, so they're all now in the freezer, ready to be used individually for breakfast..

I keep trying to spend time here…..but…..time seems to disappear, speed dial.
This place is still an important part of my life.

Things I’m learning, for today, for an example……at my house……when I have an order/delivery, things were left at my door, didn’t have to worry about being there.
Here……I get a notice that my order is out for delivery, early morning, then I track the order…..and it tells me the time frame, like today is between 10am and 2pm…..they buzz my apartment # and I let him in with a code #.
Not sure about, if I’m not here whether they leave the order…..will have to check on that.

Have been meeting more residents…..always nice conversations……and of course Micki still plays the attention getter.

Seems to be some moving in and moving out always going on……city living, I guess……but…..I’m still a country bumpkin and always will be.😉😊😀.

The next time I mention some hare-brained scheme like washing walls, please dissuade me from such a wild and crazy notion.

Why didn't y'all tell me how badly they needed to be washed? Geez. What are friends for? I wouldn't have had my feelings hurt, at least not much.

So far, only one wall done. It's the one with the louvered doors to the storage closet. Any idea what a PITA louvered doors are to clean? Thank heaven for PineSol and a magic eraser.

Gigi...I have wooden louvre doors around my Casa in Spain... they're small outdoor shutter louvre doors, and they get filthy as you can imagine with all the sand and dust in the air... I clean them with a long flat ruler with a cloth soaked in dish washing liquid.. to get through the slats ( the Todo shops in Spain sell Louvre slat cleaners as well)... .. and every year the doors get re-varnished..

@hollydolly Now she tells me. I've had enough for one day. Finished one wall and half of two others. Those can wait for a rainy day. Maybe Thursday.

For 14 years I tried not to see one picture that didn't hang quite straight. When I put the pictures back up, I fixed it.

Dang, it's hot!

Last January (yes, January), DGD decided she was going to cook. When we went shopping, she picked up a package of six very large skinless/boneless chicken breasts that have been sitting in my freezer ever since. I was going to throw them in the trash until I had a look...no freezer burn. Two of them are cooking right now and will turn into chicken pot pie for tonight's dinner. The other four are covered and in the fridge and will be baked for dinner tomorrow. We'll be just about chickened out, but that package set DD back by almost $14. I'll be darned if I'll throw 'em out!

@MickaC Sure does sound like you made a great move. Whenever I wish I still lived in the house that DH and I had in Michigan, I look around me and am grateful not to have to clean and maintain it.

I've spent most of the day sorting yesterday's wedding photos and backing up the keepers. Next I'll be editing the 800+ keepers individually - and probably losing half of them to make the final cut!
if you have 800 photos as a final cut for example... how many on average would the bride and groom typically want from that?

Do they pay up front for all photos, or do they pay for a certain amount after viewing them ?
