Celebrities 'buy' impaired man's house. Changes mind. Couple still want it

Well if the story is correct...then the 80 year old man suffering from Huntingdons Disease who'd just had a 6 hour surgery and was under the influence of heavy drugs... agreed the sale..One week later so it states he changed his mind.. and Perry & Bloom got their lawyers to insist he went ahead with the sale...

Hmmmm... on the face of it, it sounds cruel of the celebrity couple... but I'm sure we're not getting the full story...

Some say it was the same realtor for both the 'seller' and couple. That sounds like a conflict of interest too me but it happens. But why would an 83 year old with money want to move to anywhere but a luxury nursing home. Sounds like the realtor convinced the old man to sell before an actual deal was made.

yes that was also reported on the news story I read, which was different the one you posted so it's probably correct...

Hm. I do think that in such stories we do tend to get a little "social warrior" like and want to side with the poor sick guy. But when you think about this - did the couple know the guy was sick, or the extent of his illness? Was there any awareness at all? Has any money changed hands? Has the house appreciated in the years between the sale agreement and now, such that the couple stand to be millions out of pocket? Along with, of course, whatever was in those signed contracts.

The guy may have been ill at the time, but it's three years later and he's up for the fight, so what level was his disablement back then?

Of course, I've no idea what the truth and reality is here, the story glosses over the important stuff and goes more for the dramatic headline. As it stands, I can't get enough information to really have a strong opinion. The couple could be horrible, or they may have done nothing wrong....

Three years have gone by? Hmmm. I guess it could have taken the courts this long to get around to it. It varies from state to state so I've been told by a realtor, but according to the realtor, state laws regarding sales of property are taken seriously, and they can be quite specific. You sign the papers, you follow through, or else. I'm not going to take sides, but I am curious to how this turns out, but as usual with the news, the ending is often times not covered, and we will likely never know.

It seems Katy Perry is a property bully, She had a fracas with a couple of elderly nuns over property they refused to sell... went as far as the Pope refusing to sell to Katy.
One of the nuns died as a result of the stress.

She also tried to bully an Australian woman over trademark, can't remember the full story, but the other woman won the case.

While it's true we may not be getting full story, it would seem to me that if the man is showing signs of Huntingtons Disease, odds are he has few years left and something could be worked out. The Lawsuit could become moot unless he has heirs to followup.

By contrast there's this story. Have to post video, because link to article was too long for the paragraph length algorithm.

IMO, the real problem is that celebrities make too much money. When I was a boy I lived in a nice neighborhood, but nothing fancy. Several TV stars lived near me. Sure they had very nice houses, but not these huge estates, often multiple estates.

I think they should open their fancy houses to the homeless. Practice what they preach. Have the courage of their convictions.

They probably will ..... right after you open yours.

Well who knows, they might do something like that and not advertise it. I knew one rich family in New York (or probably I guess they are in New Jersey) who invited an 18 member family to stay with them after some hurricane (or maybe it was an earthquake) had destroyed their area.

He says he was medicated with painkillers following surgery when the deal was made and changed his mind later.
I wonder if the house was on the market, because if it was listed while he wasn't on painkillers and if the price was the asking price then it would seem like he shouldn't be able to change his mind, but if it wasn't even listed for sale and someone approached him and got him to sign then that would be a different situation.

This sounds like two lawyers have found two chickens and told each other ā€œYou pluck one and I’ll pluck the other. ā€œ Just my hollow opinion since I know nothing about any of this.
