Men: would you consider getting a pedicure?

I was talking to a guy at the gym today, we're going to do this local 5K run next month. He said he's going to get a pedicure to get rid of some calluses. I tried not to giggle like a 12 yr. old at the thought of this burly 6' 2" guy getting a pedicure.
But hey, I have to admit, I've been thinking about getting a very uncomfortable callus removed from the outboard ball of my foot. We joked about going together and getting our "hair done", a pedicure, then a massage together. Uh, we're really not going to go together, but I'm thinking of seeing if they can fix that callus, plus a weird thick toenail.

You guys good with a pedicure?

Lots of men get pedicures and manicures.
Some for cosmetic reasons but I think a lot get treated for nail fungus, calluses, and ingrown toenails.
I hear there are some Asian men who specialize in cutting out ingrown nails and do a great job.
I like to see a man with groomed nails.

There's nothing wrong with men getting a pedicure. People in general should pay more attention to their feet. Sometimes when I see neglected tootsies, I wonder if people realize they're actually part of the body and also need to be taken care of. 🤔

If I can make a suggestion, whether or not you're a man, if you have thick calluses or thick or ingrown nails, rather than getting a pedicure, you might consider seeing a podiatrist who's better trained to take care of these things. 🦶🦶

Some time ago I went to my doctor, thinking maybe he could cut it off or grind it off, since I first thought it was something like a planter's wart. He didn't seem inclined to work on it, mentioned that I could sand it off myself. I tried, but it didn't improve much. I am going to go to the nail place, it's right here in town, if nothing else they can make my feet pretty. ;)

Someone talked me into getting one back in early June. I was under the impression it was to be a fairly pleasant experience. Well ... IT WASN'T.
They ran a grater of some sort up and down the arches of my feet and that eventually tore up the very tender skin in both arch areas. Couldn't walk properly for over a week because walking would open up the cuts and make them bleed again so the healing process was very slow.

I'm sure what happened to me was not normal but how was I to know. I trusted the 'professional' supplying the service to me.

Anyway, never again for me thanks! Hope you have better luck should you decide to get one.

I go regularly to a Podiatrist to have my nails tendered to. I wouldn't dream of going to one of those in the shopping centres as some terrible stories have come out about people getting serious nail infections. The callus should be looked at by a professional.

I think they'd throw me out

Smashed my left big toe in my youth
Grew back funny
off to the side
and thick

Had to use heavy duty side cutters to get a bite of nail

It got loose at the base
Had to use vise grips along with the side cutters

One aggravated morning up at the cabin, trying to nurse a sock around that snaggy crag, I'd had it
Tore it off with the vise grips
Rather elated about it
Not much blood

Few weeks later, saw the thing growing back
only thicker
Still use the side cutters

As far as calluses
Wife scraped 'em off with my Gerber skinning knife
Good knife

Good for you, I find it to be a nice relaxing experience.

Exactly. Hubby and I have been attending a qualified podiatrist for several years now. I wouldn't dream of walking into the shop across the street where the workers have to breathe in noxious fumes from the application of false fingernails. A pedicure treatment there usually means painted toenails.

Good foot care is essential as we age. It is especially important for diabetics and for other people with circulation problems.
