Your quality of life relates to your physical, emotional, and social well being. Having a good quality of life often means you are happier and healthier on a regular basis. Measuring quality of life can be subjective and hard to pinpoint, but you can use several different methods. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the Human Development Index (HDI) of your country or city can tell you more about quality of life. You can also use the Mercer Quality of Living Survey and other indicators like your personal relationships and your sense of purpose to determine quality of life.

Look up your country's GDP.

Calculate the GDP for individuals in your country

Check your country’s HDI.

Examine the quality of your living conditions.

Think about your access to healthcare and education.

Evaluate how secure and safe you feel in your country

Analyze your social interactions and relationships.

Think about your sense of purpose and meaning in life.

Each of these is examined in further detail

Take time to clarify, prioritize, and honor your deepest personal values. Values are what're really important to us in life, and they reflect who we are at the deepest level. When we know what we value and we live a life in alignment with those values, we are literally improving the quality of our lives.

How often do you think about these things? How can you improve the quality of your life?

I need to find adequate and affordable health care. I also would like to improve my relationships.

It is reading this forum that makes me so happy:oops:

I don't measure my life, and I'm not going to base it on what other people think it should be, what statistics indicate it should be, or on comparisons to them. I simply strive to live it fully and to the best of my ability. :)

Yes, I would like to NOT measure my satisfaction about life, but I do. Everyday. The OP was just to give others an idea of what I was trying to convey. I wouldn't follow anyone's rules but I do listen to wise and helpful suggestions that might help. You say you "strive to live it fully and to the best of your ability." Don't you put value on the things that help you achieve that? That takes some measuring and adjusting, no? Just curious.

Do you measure the quality of your life?

No

I do consider that of those around me

Mine greatly improves when theirs does

I don't think I will every be able to say "No". Your generous and selfless way shines through your posts. Maybe a better word for "measure" would be "consider". How about that? Do you consider the quality of your life? :)

You asked, “Do you measure the quality of your life?” Measure it against what? What other people think it should be, and what statistics indicate it should be? Because I don't measure it against those things doesn't mean I don't put value on things that help me achieve the quality of my life. I simply consider what needs to be done, accept help when I need it, and gladly help others when and if I'm able. I adjust to circumstances as I must, and I put value on whatever helps me to achieve what I need to achieve. What I think about the quality of my life is what matters to me, no matter how it measures up to what others think it should be. :)
