"Rudeness" at the grocery store

“Use the Express Lane With Too Many Items“.

This drives me crazy. The counter in these areas isn’t designed for an excess number of items so the jerk shopper is trying to deal with overload. I’m guessing the shopper feels they’re too important to stand in a long line. Somehow they think they’re beating the ‘system’. Jmo, they’re just self-entitled jerks. Usually they’re more tills in the non-express line and things flow more efficiently.

Another thing in the shopping aisles is folks that walk side by side. The aisles are too narrow for this. Honestly, on the rare occasion that he’s with me, I have to remind my husband to stay behind or ahead of me. He’s kind of a clueless shopper. 🤭

I always leave my cart clean. I pay close attention to my cart location.

One I didn't see mentioned is people reaching over your items on the belt to grab a divider. I've had that happen a number of times. That's one that can send me right to self check out. Makes me mad.

I did hear it discussed the other day that people with kids may need to go down the middle of the isle. If a small child is in the cart, they reach for things.

Nope not guilty of any of those things..but lots of people are.. and it's annoying. I always worry about things like perishable being left on a dry goods shelf by someone .. and wonder if they're placed back in the fridges instead of being thrown out,....for that reason, I rarely ever if ever..pick up the first item from the fridges..

I have to admit I have committed all the crimes except "Be Rude to the Employees". Only a few times, and I try to remember those courtesy rules. I know I am supposed to be mindful of these considerations, but sometimes the circumstance causes a pile up.

People who block the aisles with their cart is one of my few pet peeves in life. As @Don M. said, it's even worse now with cell phones. People should download those digital coupons before going shopping, not while shopping !

I will add one more thing...oldy but goodie. If you are going to still write a check, please have everything filled out (except the total of course) while your items are being rung up !

Great post !

I hate it when the person(s) ahead of me in the checkout aisle wants to have a conversation with the cashier while I wait. I just experienced that. One of the ladies yacking noticed what they were doing but kept yacking away anyway.

Go the Wrong Way up the Aisle

There’s a right and wrong way to go up Aisles? 😱

Except in the dollarama stores I didn’t realize this was a rule in all stores so GUILTY!! 😬

Besides that I ‘think’ I’m very respectful of others while shopping. I never leave my cart in the middle of the isle but I’m even polite to those who do.

I use the self check out so no worries about having too many items.

I’d never leave rubbish in any cart AND am sure to put the cart where it belongs when I’m finished with it which isn’t in front of someone else’s vehicle.

If I get something from the refrigerated part of the store and change my mind, it goes back where I got it from.

I truly believe I’m a polite and respectful shopper. At least I try my best to be.

I do know what you mean. I sometimes have very short conversations with the cashier--I guess it's my loneliness showing  It bugs me too when people have lengthy conversations with the cashier--they must've gotten carried away!

Yes, so if your purse is lifted before you are done, the thief will already have a nice check to spend...

I find it's part of my daily socializing. When I had my own store I liked to converse with the customers and made friends with some of them.

People in general are rude anymore.
I am guilty of one on list ... i read labels have to to see items we cannot have ... can not do it from a ways away....... i can put my cart out of way but cannot read from 10 feet on a tiny can.. and yes amount of sodium in things is not even close brand to brand.

i will gratefully move but people like to shoot looks at someone then just speak up.
mostly young people had a girl give me the stink eye look while i was reading labels guess she was looking for product in front of me stepped back and i told her "be glad you do not have any food allergies or something that you need to see if they have in this" ... she then was sorry said she never thought of it that way .....

Just yesterday I wanted to get a new container of salt and what do you know, two elderly ladies were standing cart to cart right in front of where the salt was. I thought I'd come back after shopping some more, but after 5 minutes they were still at it. I said, "Pardon me, I'd like to get some salt." They just glared at me and didn't move an inch. I returned to the store after delivering meals, and they must have finished solving the problems of the universe because they were gone. I shouldn't have to do that, though.

Another thing that irks me is the person (usually a woman) that gets in line, then keeps sending her kids (or who's ever with her) back to the aisles to get items.

However, if I'm in the checkout line and someone steps in behind me with just a few things and I have a cart full, I'll let them go ahead.
