damitall, went to bank just now, got home, had to have help
getting out of car...course this man's car has very deep bucket
seats in the front....ah well...what do I expect.....
never get in a car that has bucket seats when you're mobility impaired. Even me with my lower back problems had difficulty getting in and out of our Maserati and the Ferrari... as a passenger... so for that reason I rarely ever would go with the o/h.... and mostly we went out in my car so I was always the designated driver..

I prefer my sit up and beg Ford, it's easy to get in and out of, and it has a high driving position too.....and we had the vintage camper van and the jeep in Spain ...all easy to enter and exit

Today we went to see the new kitchen designs one of the designers we've had round has done for us. Best of the bunch by far. Not the cheapest, but we both get a really good vibe about this guy and his work, so we've booked him to do it!

Other than that a visit toi the local supermarket for some supplies and I've had a decent Tai Chi and Chi Gong session in the back garden.

All in all a fairly easy day and a relaxing session. Just as well because Likkle Grandson aka 'The Whirlwind' is coming for the day tomorrow! WooooHooooo!:love::love::p

What am I doing today……
I’m trying to figure out where the week has gone. 🤔.
Monday was just the usual Monday…..morning cleaning chores…..went for our 4 walks……but…..2 of them turned into an hour visiting sessions, that okay, getting to really know more residents.

Tuesday….did the grocery thing, at 2 stores…..and the drug store to pick up a refill…..when I was there last time, had them fax a request to the clinic where I lived before I moved for my T3’s, came back, filled, and texted me it was ready for pick up…..chose Shoppers Drug Mart…..once I get more established there…..when it comes close to refill time….they will text, and fill, ready for pick up.
Prices are very comparable…..plus…..the post office is there as well, that will be handy.

Wednesday……the usual for starters…..needed to do a Walmart trip, for a few things……and decided to take time and go through the whole place…..must say…..rather disappointed…..they don’t seem to have the selection they once had…..so, good to know what they do have for the future.
Oh……
Got Micki a couple of new squeaky toys…..she was happy…..like she has no toys to play with 😉…..she loved them, but of course, she trying her best to wreck the squeaky, which she always does with a new toy…..so far so good. 😉.

Today…..a home day….I think….have to play a lot of fetch with the new toy…..and see what happens for the rest of the day…..maybe supper out.😊.

That's a pity Hawkie.. it could have given you some freedom... speak to @katlupe about a walker with a seat, I'm sure she could give some advice..
I have a very nice walker with seat; it's a Nova brand.
Called a Rollator, or Rolling Walker;
it has 4 very stable wheels, a bit larger wheels than the common walkers, that do make a difference!
Also has stable handles, easy hand-brakes, etc.
Could be for indoor or outdoor use.

I would love that scooter than Holly posted the picture of!
My problem for it, is that I have no place to keep it. My apartment is tiny, and it would only be allowed to be stored inside it.
The hall is narrow and can't be blocked by leaving it there, of course. No other spaces for it. :(
Someday, I will perhaps clear out my entire room, in order to have one here. IF that isn't too late for me to be able to use one.
Right now, I do have a wheelchair, next to my bed, which I use in various ways, but it's a small manual one, that I can't take in the halls or outdoors, to operate by myself. A motorized one, or a scooter, would be helpful but is too large to fit in here.

Anyway, I think you'd like a walker with a seat, to use at home, Hawk; and it folds well, for someone else to put it into any car, if they take you someplace like a store or doctor office or other indoor place like the community center of yours. Then, you could use it while there.

@Kaila ..what a shame that you don't have space for a scooter..:( .. I must remember that now I'm looking for another property, not to get an apartment that wouldn't have space outside for a mobility device if I were to need one as I age.....

@hawkdon ..if you do decide to get yourself a ''rollator''.. do watch this video first to show the safest way to walk with one..

Cutting firewood.
I spotted a big oak blowdown the last time I was hiking, and I thought, if it's still here as of this morning, that baby is mine. Well, it turns out it was, so I fired up old faithful, made some noise, and let the chips fly.
It's a big tree, so I should be able to get maybe 3 more loads.

It was raining when I rose at five, quite hard too. Going back to bed later and rising later still, (I still can't get used to this retirement malarkey, I hate it,) where was I? The second time I rose the sun was shining bright. I do hope it's there for tomorrow's Hat Festival. I have never been to a hat festival.

It's a lovely day in the neighborhood. It's not even gonna be hot. Yay. Labor Day weekend is when I ask "where did summer go?"

When I'm waiting for winter to be over, I'm always so grateful for the last frost. When I'm waiting for summer to cool off, I'm always so grateful for September 1!

September 1 doesn't mean the hot weather is over, it just means there's light at the end of the tunnel.

DD and I might make a visit to Clarence at the garden center later this morning. Over Labor Day weekend, they usually have 3/$10 plants...some annuals that I like for fall color and some perennials that can be planted now to establish roots before the weather gets cold.

@hawkdon, if you don't mind, please stay upright today!

Well, GG that may be a problem, as I seemed to have developed case of dizziness overnite....dunno if it is inner ear
problem or caused by new med..dang it all.....

Ummmmm....today is Friday, right? What happened to Thurs?! It looks like I lost a day. I know that I had good intentions of getting here yesterday, but, well....

Anyway, I have not read any posts, but hopefully I will do that later today. When we were in town yesterday, I forgot to stop at the bank to put money in my Mom's checkbook.

So, after breakfast, I'll be going back into town, so that she has money to go out and play with her friends.

Been making short (read that: Up Til My Back Complains) forays into the yard to pick up the last of the twigs that were blown down by Idalia. Buckets and buckets full...

Cleaning

Eating and sipping Tea

Planning to see Ed today one last time at the rehab center; he's scheduled to be discharged home tomorrow and his daughter arrives tonight to see to all the details.

Knitting (I need to get these winter hats to my friends in Seattle before all the cold weather is over lol)

Musing and researching on an autumn trip... would love to 'do' Michigan again, it was so beautiful, but it's a loooonnnngggg drive. Then thought about the southern Ozarks--still a pretty long drive, like 2 full days driving from Americus (western border of GA). Briefly toyed with idea of seeing Oxford, Mississippi (home of William Faulkner and a major college and 'only' a six hour drive) but the more I look into it, it doesn't seem to offer what I'm looking for (mountain vistas with changing/autumn colors). So, back the drawing board...

Unless you are planning to attend The Bournemouth Air Show, stay well away from the area. I have just returned from a brief shopping trip at Waitrose supermarket in Ringwood, the traffic is unbelievably busy. Ringwood is about ten miles or so, north of Bournemouth Airport, but it just happens to have the main arterial roads from both London & The South East, and Central England, that motorists use to travel to Bournemouth. It's mayhem!

Toddler GS comes later this morning and will be with us until tomorrow afternoon. ❤️

Despite babying my back and getting acupuncture, relief is fleeting unless I take ibuprofen or naproxen. Coming up on two weeks of this, by far the longest stint I've ever dealt with. Suppose I could go to the doctor for it next week, but doubt there is much they can do.

I don't want pain meds (not that they'd prescribe any) and given the likely cause - osteoarthritis in the spine - this is probably only going to worsen over time. Very disheartening.

Onto other things: Welcome, September, lovely to have you back again! Other than a few wretched heat domes, we were blessed with an overall milder summer than in recent years. 2023 gave us only eleven days over 100°, none over 107° and the two week forecast through Sept 15 shows mild weather. May even get a light shower or two this weekend. Yay!

@CinnamonSugar Michigan, My Michigan! DS and DSIL are going up at the end of the month for a week or so. I reminded him that the end of September is almost winter and to take warm clothes. My hometown has already had its first frost.

Nice thing about that drive is that the whole trip can be made by getting on I-75 all the way up to the bridge (and beyond if you wanna go to Canada).

I had adventures this morning. You can read all about them on the What Have You Bought Recently thread.

Hungry. Food, then maybe a short nap.

Went up to Glasgow hoping to visit a museum. Unfortunately, bus driver didn't tell us about our stop and we ended up downtown. No museum visit, bummer!

However, we stopped at a Claire's shop and got soft toys (unusual ones for our collections 😁) and a crown band ring in silver, plus a tiara ring with crystals. Daughter got her ring with crystal hearts.

Got cat earring for myself, daughter got dangly foxes. The weather was mostly cloudy all day but whenever the sun peaked out, it was very hot.

Overall, had a funky Friday at the new beginning of a new month, September!

Hey, @Georgiagranny I worked in Grand Rapids for 6 months... the pretty ones--June to early Dec. =) That's the area to which I would travel.

As to route, for me I like back roads over interstate, if possible. Maybe next year...
