I did the same with a perfectly good and well cared for sideboard when the charity shops said they didn't take 'dark wood''.. the sideboard would have brought them in at least £300 even second hand, it was very good quality.. but if I'd had a £50 composite Ikea unit they would have taken that..
...so out mine went to the end of the drive...
I wrapped it up in cling film in case it rained, and put a ''Free'' sign on it... and a guy knocked the door, couldn't believe it was going for free, and came to check .. he was absolutely delighted.. he said he'd just got a new home with his small children, and little money to furnish... so the charities loss was his gain..
Very nice looking piece! It wouldn't fit on my luggage though!
