I’m just scrolling thru FB and I see this pic….

I know if am going to do *any* remodeling, it should be more contemporary (what the next home-owner would want) but this is right up my alley (traditional all the way) and boy I can totally see my living room looking like this!! Oh well. Sigh
I like it but it seems like it would be dark in the winter.

This morning a large Eucalyptus Tree branch came crashing down and fell on the fence and my neighbor's property. The branch was pierced 5 inches deep by a T-Post. Well, at least I managed cutting the fence free so my dogs can't escape. Oh yes, they love watching me work, LOL. I guess I don't have to worry about what to do the next few days: advertising the firewood on Craigslist and bringing the rest to the Dump.
PS, we planted Eucalyptus trees some 40 years ago 6 inches tall all along our fence. I didn't realize then how tall they would grow. They are drought resistant but also very brittle.

The local PUD (Public Utility District) decided to do some work somewhere locally this morning. OOOPSIE they hit the major internet cable and knocked the web offline for a large portion of the County. Was off all day and you could hear the screaming from the area millennials echoing off the hills.

@hawkdon Wow. If my BP was that low, I'd be unconscious!

@Trila When I used to cook, way back in the way back, I'd boil the ribs in enough water to cover for just a few minutes and pour off the fatty water, then put them in the oven, fatty side up, cover tightly with foil, bake low and slow @ about 300 for maybe two hours. Take the foil off (they're gonnna look kinda nasty but not to worry) pour BBQ sauce over them (be generous) and bake uncovered for another hour @ about 275.

If they're very lean, and you don't like the idea of boiling them first, then just pour off the fatty liquid after the first two hours in the oven, but still finish up the last hour uncovered.

Skip knife and fork. Serve with plenty of napkins :ROFLMAO:

The only thing I did in the garden was take down my solar butterfly chimes and replace the batteries. Now my fingers are sore. Maybe I'll do some real work in the morning.
I've made back ribs like that, too. But County Ribs are not really a rib, but a cut from the shoulder! Go figure!

Anyway, they were delicious!!!! And so easy!!!!

I didn't follow the recipe exactly, but this is what I used....
Crock Pot BBQ Country Style Ribs

I went down and did laundry in the middle of the night, as usual. I started drying the clothes almost immediately after I came back upstairs. It was light colored clothes and towels, most of which I put away. I'll have to put away the rest tomorrow. I went to the post office to mail my sister's BD card (late) and my RMD to St. Jude. I wish Schwab hadn't stopped mailing them directly, like they used to.

I took the train to the Hoboken, N.J. waterfront park. I got lunch at DD and ate it near where the trains pull in, something I don't usually do. But I wanted to be able to use the bathroom in the waiting room twice before heading into the park. I was there more for relaxation today, so didn't do a power walk nor did I walk as far as I usually do. Still I managed to get in 8,466 steps.

I had a talk with my son about a few subjects. One about my "new" diagnoses. I could see on his face how concerned he is. He promised we are going to start walking together again (I suggested we actually use his Planet Fitness membership) and he's going to help me create and stick to a better eating plan. He also suggested I see a nutritionist. I had one years ago that I liked, but getting to her without a car is inconvenient. I told him I'm going to check and see if she sees clients via Zoom now.

Love the Grand Lux. I never had their coleslaw. We went there almost every time we were in Las Vegas. So much food.
Yes, they do give a lot of food. I ordered fish and chips (really french fries) last time and wound up bring most of it home. Ya know...between the bread and appetizers, which were my son's favorite...avocado wontons. Because it was a very late celebration of his birthday, we decided to leave room for dessert, something we'd always been too full to order before, plus they are quite expensive! I had key lime pie, he had the chocolate lava cake that comes with ice cream.

My son's dinner order, the salmon entree that came with onion rings that looked like donuts. 😛 It took a long time to come out too; he didn't care because he said that meant it was fresh.

Getting the guest room ready today. Some friends from London are arriving this afternoon. My friend teases me about living out in the countryside. In Brit-speak we call it, "living in the sticks."
We have lined up a busy itinerary for their visit. We shall be going to a burlesque come comedy show, a Big Band Dance night, we will all squeeze into the little MG for a classic car show and before they leave on Sunday, we will dine out for lunch. I am looking forward to their company.

Guess that means you didn't have any adventures today. Phooey. That means no pictures.

Are there pairs of animals marching up the street carrying lumber and saws and nails and stuff?
I have some pictures on the Photo thread.... taken before the rain started again...(y)...and now after all that flooding and rain during the night , it's completely dry up here on the top of the world... great advantage of living high up.... I'm not going into town today......I was.. but I'm told it;s flooded..

Sounds like you are going to have a fabulous time HC. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! Just so ya know...we use the expression "he (she) lives in the sticks" too, sometimes we say "in the boonies" when people live in the country or very rural areas.

Morning folks!! Not feeling whoopee this morn, leftover from
yesterday I guess....debating on going to doc or urgent care,
blood press was 135/77 today, wowsa...just feel slight dizxzy
in the head, and balance a bit off...but what the heck, mite w
as well be me as anyone else....take care all......;)

@OneEyedDiva , did you know that 8000 steps is about 3.5 miles ? (y)
Yes, the app tells you how many miles and minutes I walked and calories were burned. It calculated I walked 3.34 miles. The steps are displayed more prominently because the daily goal is calculated in steps. I have walked over 5 miles when I walk the boardwalk in Atlantic City, where God Willing, I'll be for a few days next week.

I so miss walking distances now. It's always been a passion of mine.

Due to the arthritis in my right knee, I can no longer walk far without pain. I can still walk fast, and smartly.. but I hit a pain wall now after about a mile.. sometimes less.. :(

I'm so sorry you are experiencing that HD! A mile is still a good distance. I'm glad your pain holds out at least for that long. Maybe you can break it up..a mile here and there.

I'm so sorry you've been feeling this way Hawdon! I'm hoping your PCP or a specialist can come up with a treatment plan that will reduce these episodes.

No good thought but sadly, once the pain hts it's very painful for about a couple of days...

I rarely walk anywhere now for the sake of the walking..compared to how I used to.

I do have the park and lakes and woodland behind my house.. so I can walk there , altho' it's all uneven ground so that makes it a little more difficult.. however I do have my trust treadmill here at the house, so I walk a mile on that...or I walk.. 1/2 a mile (at speed 4 mph ).. and do it every other day , so I get round it that way..

Well you are doing the best you can and that's all you can do! Take good care HD. 🤗

I managed to go and clear up the damage in the garden caused by the storms the last 2 days. No damage to the outbuildings that I can see, but my big flower pots have been smashed to smithereens... so I've gathered them all up and thrown them all out.. they will be expensive to replace, so I won't...

It's been dry up until now.. here... but a few minutes ago we had thunder & lightening again.. and the rain is back !!...:oops:

Banking and Library. Must return three books I won't have the chance to read due to the two books I am taking out for the book club beginning Oct. 2nd. Am already very involved with the first book Invisible Child, non fiction, that I am very engrossed in. Forgot the names of the one or two being made available to me today but I think they are fiction.

I love my library Book club. The people are so intelligent, it's a real pleasure to spend time with them!

Covid, covid, stay away; you've already ruined the last library book club!
