Why do some women show cleavage

I was recently wondering if men in general, have become de-sensitized to seeing
bosoms.

With teen girls wearing halter tops and shorts to school in the summer, do young boys
get used to it? I wonder what effect it has on male teachers.
Didn't the band the Police have a song that went... " Don't stand so close to me " about a male school teacher tying to maintain some semblance of order in the classroom ? Teen age girls of a certain type will push their luck with sexual taunting of boys , until some body gets fed up with it. JImB.

I think it's possible to get a little de-sesitized to it, but I don't think by much. It's just hard-wired into the male brain, which many women think is located between a man's legs, and we probably deserve that swipe, but I think it's just nature doing it's thing. Men and women can both be aroused by visual stimuli, but much more so for a man.

Fortunately, most of the time, men do crave more than a woman's body. They want the relationship as well. Men and boys are just wired to notice a woman's body (assuming he's straight), and it's something evolution has bestowed upon us. I suppose some women think it's disgusting, or whatever, but we're not trying to be jerks, it's just how the male brain works.

This is a potentially explosive topic, and the question arises of what is situationally appropriate. I’m reminded that Judge Judy has upon occasion demanded that certain contestants in her courtroom “cover up,” and required a sweater to be fetched. A woman who flaunts her cleavage is usually not advertising that she is a Rhodes scholar…
... potentially explosive topic? Those are the fun ones. Judge Judy was a cruel, vicious old harpy, she delighted in humiliating those she considered beneath her.

How women dress for other women

many have researched and find many women dress for other women either in a competition ( for attention of men) or keeping up type thing.
Maybe some think a bit of cleavage is something they feel is a positive..

Like almost everything moderation and realistically seeing when it is time to dress differently comes.

Being just under 5 ft. tall, with a short torso, anything with a scoop-neck tends to show
a bit of cleavage. I'm constantly rearranging my tops.

So .. it's not always deliberate when cleavage shows.
A bit of cleavage, a slight swell, is charming and lovely, I think. It is very feminine, and youthful, and not deliberate.

I think it is quite common to try to draw attention to whatever we think our best attributes are. Women do it with breasts, guys do it with muscle T-shirts (Assuming they have muscles), and women with great legs have more of a tendency to wear shorter skirts. It may be to get attention, but it could also be to draw attention away from less desirable areas of the body. We accentuate our assets. Women use push up bras, or padded ones, and guys may opt for tight-fitting jeans, if they think it shows off something.

At any rate, how much is acceptable is probably relevant to the situation. In Hollywood on the red carpet, it seems the more revealing, the better, although, a few choose a more subtle display. However, a revealing look just wouldn't be appropriate for a teacher to wear in any classroom.

Some people feel more comfortable with their bodies than others, and are not so concerned with what others think, so they dress in a way that suits them. Taste is largely subjective with fashion, food, music, and art. To each their own.

Bobcat, you are very observant.

Classy ladies don't have to show anything to attract attntion. They exude what is important...
There are two types of men... those who like cleavage showing and those who prefer brains.
They'd better exude femininity if they want to keep humanity going, because men seem to find a way, what with warm watermelons and a myriad of other possibilities (some of which carry the death penalty).

I just knew that this topic would wind up in the “Underground” section, I just knew it, I just knew it!

It’s interesting sociologically to note that flaunting breasts and cleavage was not always in fashion. In the 1920’s the flat-chested look was in for women, and corseting and breast-binding have been practiced. I think that the 1920’s emphasis was more on the then-new “daring hemlines.” The flapper ideal was more leggy than busty. I guess that at one time, a glimpse of ankle was considered shocking. The ideal body type has varied with the times, just as the ideal was once the “Rubenesque” woman…

For men it has always been about the female body. That is a primary attractant for most men. Not the only one, but it is important to most men...

Warm watermelons?!? I can't imagine. "No, I did not have fruit cocktail relations with that watermelon."
