What Are You Doing To Make Life Easier?

Now that you are of a certain age, what are you doing to make it easier on yourself? I decided: I'm no longer going to fool with the mop, except if water has pooled somewhere.
~I will use the Swiffer wet system. Even though I sometimes have to use a paper towel to get leftover debris, it's a lot easier than regular mopping.
~I am making double batches of dinners so I can freeze portions, at least until the (regular refrigerator) freezer is full.

~I buy prepared meals as well, taking care to choose the ones that are not too high in sodium.
~I've got a new system from bringing my wet clothes up from the laundry room. I put them in fresh 33 gallon bags which I then put into two handle bags. It's a little easier than disinfecting the other plaid laundry bags before each use. The two handle bags, which are smaller than the plaid bags, are also less cumbersome to carry up those steps.

I look for ways to make things easier for myself around the house. I got rid of almost all my knick knacks. Got tired of dusting things I wasn't even paying attn to. Try to save a little money here and there. I quit buying a bunch of cleaning chemicals. I have 3. I also now buy 3 in 1 shampoo/conditioner/body wash cuz it's cheaper than all 3 bottles and less in the shower to fiddle with. Still cutting my own hair to save money. Get compliments on it from time to time.

Getting rid of ‘stuff’. I have too much. Sometimes I put things in a box in the basement. If I didn’t miss them after a few months, I don’t need them. Off they go to the donation box.

My husband uses a Swifter too. No more getting down on his knees unless he really has to.

Love the Swiffer system as well and with the cats, it works great!
I invested in an electric vacuum cleaner as well as in an electric steam mop for my floors. (The entire house has tile floors because of the animals). It works really well.
I also decluttered keeping only the essentials.
I bought microfiber cloths as well as small white cotton cloths to clean instead of using a lot of paper towels. It saves me money.
My cooking has become quite simple. Most of the time, we grill meat and serve it with veggies. Sometimes, I'll make a stew or chili or an earthy soup. Sometimes, shrimp or chicken with an elaborate salad. Dessert, most of the time, chocolate!

Hey Marci. I'm so glad to see that you here with us again ❣️ I saw in another thread (forgot which one now) that you also changed positions at work again and are happy with that change. Good for you. I'm glad you like what you are doing better and feel more useful.

To make life easier:
1) If I know there is traffic, I drive during the time when there is no traffic. I even plan my doctor appointments that way.
2) I use the Swiffer for mopping.
3) I use the disinfectant wipe (antibacterial, antiviral) for cleaning bathrooms and dusting around the house. Then throw them away when done.
4) The water I take to bed with me, whatever is left in the morning, I water my plants with it.
5) When it is hot outside, I close the curtains and blinds to shield me from the heat and lower my electric bills.
6) For keeping the rug or small carpet clean, I spot remove dust etc. with the large cellophane tape (used for packaging). It gets rid of the dust well. Every couple of weeks, I use the vacuum. (I also use that tape to capture bugs - it really works).
7) I keep a batch of water bottles in the car for when I am traveling and need to stay hydrated.

I downsized to a 855 sq ft condo so much less to clean. I look at the courtyard from my balcony but it’s the hoa’s job to take care of it.

I got rid of so much stuff so what I have is easy to take care of. My 3 closets aren’t stuffed full so everything is easy to find.

I wish I could do that; sounds wonderful.

I'm doing my best to avoid situations and people that give me agita.

Another one here that does not like swiffer mops...as for making life easier, I've been working on this since I retired, years ago.... I've come to agree with Chet.....I've lowered my standards. I live in half of my house so that eliminates a lot of work, I buy many grocery items in bulk to eliminate trips to the store, I've stopped giving birthday and Christmas gifts to all family members, doesn't mean I don't help them, I just find remembering BD dates and gift buying stressful, so I don't. Many more...the list is long.
