What do you remember from 40-50 years back that was the latest way to dress or look? Remember those shiny patent-leather White Go-Go Boots that the girls wore in the late 60's? My best friend's mom bought her a pair and I was so envious because my mom refused to buy me some. She said they were "Cheap and a waste of money." (And they were!)Beehive Hairdo.jpg
Or how about Beehive Hair-Dos. I didn't care how popular it was... I would never wear my hair like that!

I think by the 1970s pageboys and bobs had become pretty popular in real life. Few went for super-curly styles and long hair on women became less of a thing. More women were working and needed somehing easier to maintain and work in that still looked good.

I think 1960s miniskirts were moderated somewhat, but short was still in. Even as late as 1980 I remember skirts and dresses ending about 3" above the knee, at least going by photos of my ex that I imagine she'd want me to rip up now.

That reminds me. As women age into their 60s and 70s are they embarrassed by (or proud of) old photos of them in flirty poses when young? No, nothing nasty. Fancy dresses and hair, at the beach, wrestling an alligator, whatever.

I’ve met plenty of reptiles in my life but never wrestled an alligator !

I certainly had a beehive hairstyle and probably every other hairstyle going over the years

Wearing mini skirts, hot pants, see through blouses, the white boots Vintagemo mentioned, you name it, I’ve had it and enjoyed every minute 😁😆

A couple of you mentioned mini skirts... My mother used to sew some of my clothes for school in the early Seventies. She'd make me these hideous plaid straight skirts and they were like 2" above the knee. She'd drop me off at school and I'd go into the girls bathroom and roll the top of the skirt up to make it really short! 3miniskirts.jpg

This was us in the late 60's early 70's..

I well remember the white Go-Go boots. I thought I couldn’t live without a pair. And you are right, they were cheap and uncomfortable.
I also had a plaid skirt that a great aunt made me. I loved it and wore it for years.

Yeah, girls had "do"s, made with at least two cans of hair spray. Then the new style was like Mary Travers (Peter, Paul & Mary). Long, flat, and had to be ironed.

Leisure suits for men in the 1970’s…oh the horror, the horror! 🙀
They were a rage for a very short time. As far as I can tell they were a fashion. Women's fashions come and go in the blink of an eye. But men have kept returning to the same format my entire life. OK we had narrow ties, followed by wide lapels, and then back to normal lapels, but you had to be ultra fashion conscious to even notice. Leisure suits are now jokes like showing up at board meeting wearing Groucho Marks glasses. I don't know why.

I liked the look of all of the 60’s outfits, but in the 50’s we had longer skirts, so I never wore any skirts that were not over my knees and part way down my calves. I had skirts that flared out and needed a wide, wide belt, and even the pink one with the Poodle on it that was so popular back then.
My favorite style from that time period was the flare-leg pants and jeans. I still love those !

This is me with my collie, Flurry, probably on Easter Sunday since I am wearing a hat as well as the dress, one of my favorites.

I was too young for sixties fashion. I was still in primary school but by 1966 I did pester my mom for a pair of go-go boots. She bought me pair that was olive green suede and I loved them and wore them to death. Mine were comfortable and they didn't look cheap either which I also loved. Here's some cool sixties singers and models.twigs shell.jpgshrimp floral.jpgmichelle blue.jpggrace slick 1.jpgmorn shrimpton.jpg
