As a single senior living alone, what frightens you the most and how do you cope with that fear?

Can I get you to start looking up to Jesus he has a lot of answers if you just give him a chance. He's waiting for you now. We can only control what we can by ourselves, and sometimes, it can get overwhelming. But if we can bring it and put that burden or question in the Lord's hands, he will take it and own it and make his problem. I know this for a fact because he helped me. Stay blessed and not stressed, the, Lord, loves you

If only if life was this easy but unfortunately itā€™s not šŸ˜Ÿ.
 
I live alone in a large apartment building. I don't fear for my personal safety, but this is a den of thieves. I had $204 of Instacart groceries stolen from in front of my apartment door. People put pretty things on the little shelves outside their apt. door, and people steal them.

Also, the neighbors are not friendly. Most of the men are, but the women are cold as ice, never smile or say Hello.

One of my best friends is in the apartment on the other side of my wall. We are such good friends we'd joke about poking a hole in the wall so we could be room mates.

We used to play cards and Cribbage 3-4 times a week, but then she finally got into a better apartment complex she'd been on the waiting list for for 4 years. She's been packing and downsizing for 2 months, and I have not seen her in all this time other than in the hallway to say I Love You.

She is moving on August 31. She is a 10 minute bus ride away, so I will see her sometimes anyway.

There used to be very nice women living in my building. But now, the women on the whole are not nice people. Luckily my good friend introduced me to one of her good friends here, so the two of us hope to get to know each other better.
 
My fear is someone comes over to visit. I love living alone. No one to answer to, do what I want, when I want, Buy what I want, never have to ask for permission, (Opinions are fine though.), the list goes on and on. What kinds of fear would there be?

As a Catholic the religious teaching that was part of my upbringing led me to believe that, The Good Lord was selective, about those for whom Heaven was their reward or inheritance. That dogma no longer exists within my psyche but don't tell my priest or he will have me destined for hell, and in a handcart no less!

What can you do to get if off of your mind? I actually like social media, especially TikTok. It makes me laugh. Social media makes me feel less alone. Read. Do puzzles. Anything. I think most of us are a bit lonely but aren't consumed by it. I'm hoping this feeling passes for you. I'm here!

I live in a very rural area but there are Senior meals in many areas close by.*
They advertise in what we call a free Penny Saver we get every week that has all the latest events and main food store ads etc.
People are also using it for Obituaries because the regular newspapers are so expensive for Obits.
We can fight loneliness by doing anything positive that gets us round other people, hopefully who are seniors too.
* I say close by but in my locale , less than 20 miles away, is Close by! :rolleyes:

I use to live in a City-what a big difference in rural NY.

There is also a way to dial a 911 SOS alert through your cellphone. That should be a ptiority for anyone living alone. if you do not have a cellphone, then consider a life alert resource, there are different price levels for these resources. I have all the respect in the world for owners with pets.
When it comes to a life and death crisis, this takes precedence over pets.
