What about Spotted Richard with custard? Yes indeed, due to the mirth which the name Spotted Dick usually provokes, restaurant staff at the Houses of Parliament dubbed it Spotted Richard.
Anyway, I am making it today. I love classic British puds, last week was apple pie, next week a steamed treacle sponge. It is heavenly to have a proper homemade pudding with traditional Sunday roast. Makes life worth living in my view - I find baking most relaxing though for our weights sake pudding is only once weekly or when we eat out for special occasions.
So what's your favourite if you are English?
What is your classic favourite if you are American or from another part of the world and when do you eat it?
