Matthew Perry, who starred as Chandler Bing on “Friends,” has died in an apparent drowning accident at his Los Angeles home, according to the Los Angeles Times, citing law enforcement sources.

He was 54.

No foul play is suspected, the sources told the LA Times.

Los Angeles Police would not confirm reports of Perry’s death to CNN.

Representatives for Perry did not return CNN’s request for comment.

Born in Williamstown, Massachusetts, to an actor father and a journalist mother, Perry went to live with her in Ottawa, Canada, as a youngster after his parents split.

Growing up, he pursued his passion for tennis and became a top ranked tennis player in Canada. Like his father the younger Perry also developed an interest in acting after moving to Los Angeles when he was a teen to live with him.

Perry’s first credited role was a small part in the drama “240-Robert” in 1979. From there other bit parts came his way in shows including “Charles In Charge,” “Silver Spoons” and “The Tracey Ullman Show.”

His first film role was while still in high school, playing opposite River Phoenix in the 1988 film “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon.” The year before the film’s release Perry starred in the sitcom “Second Chances” (later renamed “Boys Will Be Boys”) about a man who dies and returns to earth to mentor his younger self, played by Perry.

The series failed to find its audience and Perry continued to land more high profile roles in projects including “Growing Pains,” “Who’s The Boss” and “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

But it was being cast as affable and sarcastic Chandler Bing on the 1994 “Friends” that made him famous.

The role earned him a primetime Emmy nomination in 2002. He also enjoyed four other nominations for the prestigious TV acting award, including two for his turn as Joe Quincy on “The West Wing.”

he drowned in his Jacuzzi.... !!

Law enforcement sources told the outlet the actor was found on Saturday at a home in Los Angeles after first responders were called to the scene for a cardiac arrest.

Sources claim he was found in a jacuzzi at the home but no drugs were found at the scene and there was no indication of foul play.

A source told the outlet that there was so sign of foul play, and that robbery-homicide detectives are investigating his death.

In his last post to his Instagram, shared earlier this week, the star shared images of him in his pool, saying: 'Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I'm Mattman.'

Perry has been candid publicly about his problems with drugs and alcohol, having first went to rehab in 1997 for what was said to a pain medication addiction after a jet skiing accident.

Following this initial stint, he then went to rehab again in 2001 and 2011. He told an interviewer in 2016 that he doesn't remember filming three seasons of Friends.

A longtime friend of Perry’s - who was in recovery with him - told DailyMail.com: ‘Everyone is in a total state of shock. People are crying on the phone and struggling to accept this news.

Perry also revealed that his colon ruptured as a result of his opioid addiction when he was 49.

Doctors gave him only a two percent chance of survival and he was in a coma for two weeks followed by months more in the hospital.

Perry required 14 surgeries to help repair all of the abdominal damage, and he admitted to having gone to rehab 15 times over the years in hopes of kicking his drug addiction.

At one point during his Friends career, he admits he was taking 55 Vicodin a day and was down to 128 pounds but yet he 'didn't know how to stop.'

He told an interviewer in 2016 that he doesn't remember filming three seasons of Friends.

'I had this odd rule that I would never drink on a set,' Perry said. 'But I went to work in extreme cases of hangover. It's so horrible to feel that way and have to work and be funny on top of that.'

He even revealed he would go to real estate open houses – not because he was interested in buying property but to see if he could steal drugs from medicine cabinets.

Born on August 19, 1969 in Massachusetts, Perry grew up in Ottawa and was raised by his mother, Suzanne Morrison, a Canadian writer and former press aide for Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.

Travel well and rest in peace Matthew Perry ~~~

It is recommended by experts that one should not stay in a hot tub for more than 20-30 minutes as the temperature of the water in the hot tub is often in the range of 100-104 degrees F. Such a high temperature can be harmful to a person resulting in nausea, dizziness, fever, and in extreme cases even death.

I've never understood the attraction to hot tubs.
This is a tragic death.

Matthew had dozens of life-saving surgeries, 15 trips to rehab clinics and spent $9 million trying to get clean as he struggled with drugs and alcohol.

Perry died aged 54 'after drowning in his jacuzzi at home,' sources said on Saturday although no drugs were found on scene and there was no indication of foul play.

First responders were called to reports of a 'cardiac arrest' at his Los Angeles abode, according to law enforcement sources.

Perry previously detailed his battle with drug and alcohol addiction in tell-all autobiography Friends, Lovers, And The Big Terrible Thing, released in November last year.

In 2019, he narrowly escaped death after his colon burst due to opioid overuse.

He described the moment his loved ones raced to the Los Angeles hospital where they were told the then 49-year-old had only a two per cent chance of surviving the night.

He slipped into a coma for two weeks and when he came discovered he had been fitted with the colostomy bag he had to wear for the next nine months.

Just two years later he suffered another brush with death at a rehab facility in Switzerland.

Doctors administered a sedative which interacted with the opioids in his ravaged body causing his heart to stop beating.

They managed to resuscitate him but broke eight ribs in the process, forcing him to pull out of a role alongside Meryl Streep in the film Don't Look Up, a lost opportunity he described as 'heartbreaking'.

At one point, his gums were so diseased from his debauched lifestyle that his top front teeth fell out as he bit into toast spread with peanut butter, and he found himself carrying them to the dentist in a plastic bag.
