Hi gang!!! Slept in a bit longer today, yay, it is 35F outside, so
not going out for nuthin....poss rain later today also, and right now we are soaking wet here from past 3 days....so dunno what
the day will bring....feeling pretty good except for joint aches but what the heck.....catch u later on....;)

Mornin' All... Well now, what I planned to do this morning and what I actually did were very different. I'd only slept 3 hours, so since I couldn't sleep more, I planned a "two-coffee, good book, listen to the rain" morning.

Knock knock. Who's there? Reality. 🤨 7:30 I hear the mail truck in the neighborhood. They only deliver Amazon boxes on Sundays and I was tracking one, so I knew it was for me. Got the "delivered" notice. Drat, it wasn't delivered to MY porch! 😦 Decided to track the truck down... nope, not around any longer. Maybe he's still at the PO parking lot switching vehicles. Nope.

No one on the PO loading dock either. As a last ditch effort, I looked to see if there was a box on anyone's porch nearby... and sure enough there was. It was mine, so I knocked and explained to the sweet old lady so I wouldn't be reported as a porch pirate. I should say that I've spoken with her before and I wouldn't have gone knocking on a stranger's door.

Turned into a three-cup morning real fast. :coffee::coffee::coffee:

Glad you got your box Kate. It's not too late to enjoy the rainy day.

The new playground yesterday, with son & grandson, was wonderful. Though a small area, it had picnic tables, lots of grass, waterfront with a challenging, gymnastic type play area for the kids. The weather was summer. It was so nice.

After a few hours we went back to my place, had pizza, played with cats the rest of the day.

Splendid!

Today, tired so far. Don't care, it was well earned to have such a fabulous day yesterday.

It's been raining on/off all day. As it's the run-up to All Hallows Eve, we're still watching scary films and more.

We've celebrated at lunch with a brunch favourite, Eggs Benedict with Bacon and we made our cheese sauce with Red Leicester Cheese.

Dinner planned, leg of lamb roast, steamed broccoli florets (keeping the stalks for our Halloween dinner soup, Tuesday) and mashed potatoes poppers, Mint sauce. Skull-shsped Vanilla and Chocolate Cream Cheese Cake for dessert.

Mostly, this weekend, beside our popping out to pickup drinks, we've been investigating our new Puck Streaming system. Finding out jewels of films and TV series as well as finding tips and tricks to create and save playlists.

Still left to re-sign into Paramount+. Overall a relaxing few days until our rituals on Tuesday.

My 4 unit temperature system shows it is 52F outside my door and 66F downstairs or slightly chilly versus recent weeks so have a hair drier blowing on low warm setting in my kitchen. Last year my small space heater died and decided using a well designed safe hair drier was a wiser strategy. Note, I turned off gas heating in my 2-story townhouse long ago and tend to dress warmly.

Today will be my last Sunday I don't attend mass and instead just watch a half hour version on TV as I did during the pandemic. Want to be certain I am not spreading Omicron COVID-19 that I caught 4 weeks ago even though quarantine recommendations have long ended. Quite stubborn nasal disease that could be fatal for other seniors. It was only this week that my white tongue symptom finally went away. Otherwise there is the 1pm PDT Bengals at 49er NFL game.

But the big event I've been storing my mental energy up for all week is this evening's 6:30pm special Bob Weir and Wolf Brothers concert backed by the Stanford student symphony orchestra at their Frost Amphitheater. About a 25 mile drive north. Will be showing a lot of young adult students how to freestyle dance.

A really raw day. After being in the 70sF for 3 days, it's MUCH colder today and with added rain. Like my mom would say, "It's the kind of cold that gets inside you." or, "It feels like snow." I did bring in the plants to be on the safe side. Some got sunburned or frostbitten, but hopefully when new growth comes in, they will recover their good looks.

@hawkdon I almost expected that you were gonna say you made biscuits and sausage gravy again. Good thing you didn't because I know you hate to see a grown woman cry.

@debodun You can tell when it's gonna sNOw because it doesn't just feel like it, it smells like it:) It's gonna get downright cold here starting Tuesday, but it for sure won't smell (or feel) like sNOw. The Farmer's Almanac sez we're in for it this wiinter, though. I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict that either it will sNOw this year or it won't. You can take my prediction to the bank;)

@hollydolly More rain? More? Rain? You and @horseless carriage need to invest in water wings.

I'm home, but y'all knew that because I'm posting.

Sir got there so early this morning that I figured he must have spent the night. Between us, the morning went smoothly, and I even had time to clean the oven. Yup. Cleaned. The. Oven! I've been trying to get that done for weeks, but we never get it turned off for the day in time for it to cool down. It's all clean and shiny now. By the time I get back to work on Tuesday morning, it won't be clean and shiny anymore:(

The oven: it's big, like walk-in big. Whenever I start cleaning it, I think of Hansel and Gretl. I was busily scouring away when I heard Sir calling for the deli manager to come help him close a heavy door. Wut wo! They stood there laughing. I backed out in a hurry:ROFLMAO:

Can y'all believe that I actually made it through the day? For real I did! Yay me.

Tomorrow's a clean-up-the-garden day. I started on it a little bit ago but just got too tired. Gotta check with DD to see if she has things to do in the morning. If so, I'll ask her to take me to the garden center for maintenance stuff; if not, guess I'll have to bite the bullet and go this afternoon. I'd really rather rest my bones.

The friend we had lunch with yesterday is on her way to the county shelter to fetch a dog. Her birthday was Friday. Her dog died Friday:cry:🐶 DD was scrolling through the county shelter's website this morning and saw a dog with the same name as our friend's dad and decided that was a sign so she sent the pic to our friend. Yup. A sign for sure.

She lives alone just on the edge of a kind of dicey area and said she felt very vulnerable without a dog to bark when needed and a dog to welcome her home, sleep on her bed... This one is reported to be friendly and loves kids and other furry animals. Our friend has no kids, but she does have four kitties. And...the notes about him say that "his days are numbered" because they have so many dogs that they're having to euthanize10 a day  Doggie gets a person and a home; friend gets a furry pal. Win-win.

Cleaned the stove top & cast iron grates. Next today will be to repair the flap seal on the automatic ice dispenser. Googling the how to DIY will be my 1st. go to so I don't mess up the sequence of disassembly & assembly.

What do you have it stuffed with, Deb? Looks yummy! @debodun
Chopped tomatoes and chopped zucchini innards (what I scooped out top make the trough), breadcrumbs seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix those together well and spoon back into the prepared zucchini. Bake at 375F for 40 minutes.
