When what goes around comes around

And it does.

Have you ever had someone treat you so badly, with such callous indifference that it took years to come to terms with? Have you then heard years later of that person's demise when the same has happened to them?

Well, I heard exactly that the other day of someone I once knew, and I am glad. I am only human and happy that karma did it's work.
Anyone else believe in karma?

You would think after acting like a Buddhist monk for over thirty years I would accept the "laws of Karma"., but I don't. I have come to see that belief in it is a form of wish fulfillment. Kind of a belief that the universe balances out bad actions with bad karma, and good actions bring good karma. It is far to big of a generalization, and so many bad actions go on without the balance, and these deeds are forever left alone. Also what some people think is just karma for someone, is just the opposite..."no good deed goes unpunished."

I remember one woman who left her kids and husband for a married man. Her husband was a good friend of ours. How we prevented that poor soul from killing himself is a miracle, she destroyed him. He had custody of his kids because she didn't want them, she was too busy enjoying herself.
Some time later she found her lover was cheating on her and he ditched her. But by then her husband had found a wonderful new lady.

Sadly, that's how it can go in a full circle.

But it is rather satisfying when bad deeds are punished. A person finds out how it feels.

I sort of believe it but I don't call it Karma.
I think it's more complicated than just Karma.

I believe it's a combination of natural consequences, varying degrees of good and bad choices that go through a judgement process which results in either paying for our bad choices now, or paying for them personally after death...or not paying personally...but rather the bad choice being visited upon our children of future generations.

Or best of all being forgiven by our judge who is our intelligent designer, our Creator, God.

Our existence is much more complicated than any of us can wrap our heads around or ever communicate. So my answer is incomplete at best. I just gave it a try.

Yes, I definitely do... Once upon a blue moon, I used to do a "Return to Sender" ritual. Nowadays, I just returned this phrase: "Karma be on you..."

Oh I sooo agree. Wishing someone to suffer, for whatever reason is entering into very murky waters.
It's like telling someone to "Go to Hell". Just don't. You can say hell but don't wish someone to go there.
Actually I did not wish this person harm, I just felt indifferent in order to move on.
However, hearing of their demise has come as a bonus!

As we age all our bodies are going to deteriorate. Bad things can happen to good people too. We‘re definitely all going to die. That doesn’t make it karma.

I think this degree of judgment and smugness when something bad happens to someone else is exactly what those of you who consider yourselves christians are told not to do. Karma is not this pop culture thing everyone wants it to be. And this degree of nastiness is only affecting your own karma. You have no effect on anyone else's karma.
