Ummm... 'scuse me for butting in, but if I had a pellet gun, I could at this very moment open my window and point it at six of my neighbors who are standing on a porch across the street talking. They are all citizens. What am I missing?

Then you would be pointing the pellet gun at your neighbors and that in fact would be threatening. Whereas I could take out one of my pellet guns, or one of my firearms, or a bow point it out the window and not be a threat to anyone.

Pointing it out the window is pointing it at anyone who happens to be .... [out the window] . He is pointing it into the public ... again, just like the guy in Vegas who killed 58 people. Again, I wish someone would have stopped him early on.

But how would anyone (say LE) *know* that I wasn't going to pop off the neighbors one by one? If I'm pointing a gun of any kind (how would anyone know from a distance?!) at people, I would fully expect to be taken down... wouldn't you? This is not the 1950s... if a gun is pointed at someone, who's going to wait around to see if it's an actual threat or not? Apples & Oranges .... you likely do not have neighbors such as usually found near / next to a motel/hotel.

Any cop in prison is living on borrowed time that's why the cops will cover up, and conceal any wrong doing on their part. I think bystander videos, dashcams, and bodyworn cameras have opened a whole new transparency that many LEOs find extremely uncomfortable. Hopefully in time they will change in a positive way and stop the bullying and tyrannical behaviors.

It is called brandishing a weapon ... and if seen the person doing it is going to encounter the police . @ that point , if he doesn't follow commands .... he stands a good chance of being shot ..... as this guy was.

These cops completely screwed themselves. One is in prison, nearly dead, and both will be wandering the desert for the rest of their lives w the knowledge they cost themselves their careers, families, etc and killed men for no reason. In their heart of hearts I'm sure they'd find another way to get the job done given another chance.

Furthermore you seem to hold no value in the dead guys right to LIFE. In both cases it was pathetic police work where overwhelming, unjustified force was used to deprive two men of their right to life.

I'm going to make it a point to try avoid cop topics in the future on SF. It causes me far too much personal upset to entangle myself in it any further.

We actually had a guy doing just that. Bow & arrow , shooting into a bail of hay leaned up against his garage. Just off the service alley where all the kids ride their bicycles. The police were called [not by me] but ...... he wound-up going away in the back of police car.

I follow a black professor online who mentioned today that he had just watched the new documentary about the George Floyd case and it had changed his mind about everything he thought he knew about it.

The yard slopes up to the back so the hill forms a natural backstop and obviously faces away from the street to avoid an incident.

This is the type of police work that makes people hate cops. An innocent man railroaded. 19 years!!! It's sickening and DC came out of this same, sick MPD culture. Not to mention the real murderer got away with it!
