Is my pharmacy THAT clueless?

I get my meds at a US chain of stores called Rite Aid. Had to switch when I moved back to Batavia, as there were no Walgreens here. Here is my issue....as many here with arthritic hands, I cannot handle the child proof caps. I find them hard to open. So, I asked Rite Aid to put in my profile to put on the easy oen, non child proof caps. Seems reasonable, right?
BUT...every time they fill my meds, I have to look because invariably they will put the child proof caps on and I have to ask them to change them over.
Seems there should be something popping up on my file to iflag this request. But I have to ask them Every. Darn. Time. I have called the customer service number, spoken to them countless times. What else do I need to do?
I used to like the Walgreen caps,,,as they were dual..being you could flip it over to be child proof (like if kids around) or not

I am really not of a mind to switch pharmacies...as it MAY seem minor..but It is impt to those of us who cannot use the child proof

I have Rite Aid to & they did the same thing on my automatic refills for a while. At one time, auto refills was being done somewhere else & shipped to the store for pick up & all of those had child proof caps. I didn't notice it at first, but I asked the clerk on my next pick up if they still had it in the computer for regular caps & that's when she told me what was going on. Since then, the girls look at the caps & replace them if needed for me. I think others probably complained too.

This was during the same time they were very short handed & had reduced hours they were open because of no one working. Several times the drive thru was closed & you had to walk in for your scripts. They seem to be back up to staff for the most part & hasn't been much of an issue lately.

Seems like they could make a note on your record. Maybe they're so paranoid that a child will get the medicine and overdose. I guess you can call before you go there and make sure they do it, so you don't have to deal with it during the pickup. I get your frustration, we also like the easy open caps, even on over the counter drugs like Aleve.

I deal with Rite-aid and haven't had that problem. I just had to sign a paper from the beginning that I didn't want those child proof caps and that was it. Same with Walmarts pharmacy.

When picking up your meds, why not just look at the bottles. If they have the wrong caps on them, ask them to change them before paying for them.

I was never given anything to sign before, that I recall. I usually go through the drive through, but I will go inside next time, to talk it over with them, and ask about a signed release

They're not doing it deliberately. Likely they're just going through a routine, and that routine means child-proof caps.

Next time - get a prescription with the right caps. When you're done with them, keep the caps, and throw the bottles away. Then when you get your new prescription, if they've used the wrong caps, you can swap them out.

Yes...have a nice little zip lock bag with caps. I am not losing a lot of sleep over it...just mildy infuriated. Hey...I do not have a lawn to yell at people to get off of, so I have to be a cranky old lady about SOMETHING. LOL

I'm just crossing my fingers we keep the Rite-Aids near me, or the one I use.

They seem to be in some trouble. So many businesses are being crowed out by the hard times, mega-competition (Costco), and management mistakes that render them vulnerable.

Yes talk to them in pharmacy and not just a tech, go straight to a pharmacist or whomever is over the pharmacy, ask if you need to sign something and stand there until they make it right. I would ask them right there "is this NOW going to be an issue going forward because I am here to correct it because I have requested No child proof caps and I keep getting them thank you and get their name in case it happens again.

I myself would go to store manager if I had requested the caps be changed over and over but that is just me. I hope you get it solved. I know it must be frustrating.

I will keep everyone posted. Would not be such an issue if it weren't for it being so difficult on my bad hand days,
But if this is the worst of my issues...I will take it
I don't know if it would cause confusion, but we have an old over the counter bottle that is easy open for arthritis, we keep it and pour the new pills into it. Works for us. We don't have bad arthritis, but child proof caps are really hard to open sometimes, and we like to avoid the headaches. Good luck Marie, seems there's always something, doesn't it?
