My favourite sweets (candy) when I was a kid...

looks delicious....

that reminded me of a sweet that I haven't seen since I was a kid called..Lucky Tatties ( potatoes).. they tasted of Cinnamon, and occasionally there would be a 'lucky'' tiny toy inside one..

Did any lucky child swallow the toy? 😮

I remember those wax Woowee whistles. Fun to play and I loved that taste. They were more like gum than candy. And Nik-L- Nips

I liked peanut-butter cookies that my mum made. For store-bought, my favorites were malted-milk balls, 3-Musketeer bars (that I believe were shipped up from the US), and the Cadbury Dairy-Milk bar.
And then there was the very fine Ragusa bar that I'd share with a friend, an aficionado of Italian heritage. That was a special occasion, didn't happen real often.

I'll save you the details...lol
My brother-in-law ate almost a small bagful of liquorice and when he went to the toilet all his motions were black. He got a fright and thought he was bleeding from the back passage. Called a doctor in the middle of the night to come and investigate (you could get a doctor to visit in the 60's) When the doctor saw what he did he asked if he had eaten any liquorice and he said, a small bagful, problem solved.

As a child I remember buying Conversation Lollies. They were shaped in all different ways and some were shaped as hearts which said "I love you", "Marry me" and they tasted like Musk, which I loved. You could buy 10 for a penny.

First time we lived in Hawaii, my favorite was the 'eat the wrapper' rice candy.
(the inner wrapping melted in your mouth)

Now, when I want a treat, it's Nashville's own 'Goo Goo Clusters'.

My favorite childhood candy was candy corn. They look like corn kernels. They don't make them any more. The old ones had three colors-white, yellow and brown. The brown part was chocolatey. Today, candy corn comes in only two colors- white, orange/yellow. Without the brown part, it's not the same.
