Holly, Spill the Tea Re: Catherine and King Charles?

Question about current news for you, Holly or anyone who knows. @hollydolly We're only getting that Catherine has had abdominal surgery and will be "down" for a few weeks and out of royal duties for longer. Can't find what the "abdominal" issue is. Do you know? King Charles' upcoming surgery, however, is right up there in our faces about what it is. (Enlarged prostate) So... that seems backwards that the world would know that and everything's quiet about Catherine. Care to "spill the tea" as they say in social media? :unsure:

It just seemed strange to me that his issue would be so "out there" and hers so vague. Maybe it's just vague here.

That was the first thing I thought of, but didn't sound right with up to two weeks in the hospital and no official duties for a long time.

Tubal ligation doesn't require an overnight stay.

Whatever is going on with Kate requires a one to two week hospitalization and three months recovery which is not at all the norm, especially the length of the hospital stay for someone who can afford the best of in home care.

yes 2 weeks is a long time to be in hospital these days but they are saying that's how long she'll be in, even when she had her children, she was kicked out the next day.... and Charles is going in for prostate problems on Monday
 
The Princess of Wales will spend up to two weeks in hospital after a successful abdominal surgery, it was revealed today.

Kate Middleton, 42, was admitted to a London hospital yesterday for the planned operation and is expected to stay there for 10 to 14 days.

The future Queen will the return home to Windsor to continue her recovery.

The reason for the procedure has not been shared but it is understood to be non-cancerous.

I've read several places that she doesn't have cancer...hope that's true. My guess due to the length of stay is she's had gastrointestinal surgery. Cutting into the gut is very high risk due to infection and there are often drains used, sometimes even with suction that have to be closely monitored.

hmmm.. it's reported that her condition developed over the weekend. if that's true then it's kick in the guts ( no pun intended) to the rest of us how quickly she can be hospitalised..

I'm trying to think what abdominal problem would come on suddenly and be an emergency.. and would need 2 weeks in hospital.

I've had appendix and gallbladder out.. both were just a one day stay in hospital..

She's got 3 children , so I'm sure she wouldn't stay away longer than is necessary....it'll be interesting to see just how long she is in hospital.

reports also say she'll not be fit fr work for 3 months..

I'm thinking it's much more likely to be a hysterectomy

A ruptured appendix can get very complicated. They can get gangrenous before rupture, cause obstruction etc. Peritonitis is a serious complication as is sepsis.

They usually aren't serious enough to call for 10-14 days hospitalization but some of the complications are very serious.

There's also the possibility that something went wrong with a surgery. My mom started working a case after lunch (anesthetist) and the case ended at midnight because the patient's catheter bulb burst in her bladder causing the bladder to rupture. The surgeon had to open the patient three times total ...once for the original surgery, twice to repair the bladder (first repair didn't get everything completely closed and the surgical team realized it when urine started leaking out of the closed incision).

While it's reported the condition is non-cancerous and while many, many tumors start as benign but turn malignant later .....or not. Better safe than sorry.

I also agree with the hysterectomy idea and maybe everything was all set off by the pain of an appendix going bad. So then, multiple surgeries would account for a long hospitalization and a very long recovery. The recovery may not even take that long.

The children have a father, nannies I am guessing; and many other family members to step in.

I also wish her well.
