Lovely creations. Expert stuff. Well done.I've been making quilts since 2001 but I've cross stitched since the early 1980's. I also crochet but I don't knit. I have to keep busy with my hands
The first quilt is a Quilt As you Go quilt and made with scraps leftover from another project.View attachment 327604View attachment 327605View attachment 327606View attachment 327607View attachment 327608
Do you take a sewing machine with you? (I assume so, but thought I'd ask.)me! I am a quilter. My joy in life is to go on quilting retreats. I call them a sweat shop with wine.
I need to suggest one of those to my DD.me! I am a quilter. My joy in life is to go on quilting retreats. I call them a sweat shop with wine.
So did my mom. As a matter of fact quilting was done by many of her generation and almost all women in our family for generations past. Sadly, unfortunately, none of the women in my generation nor those who followed now do needlework of any kind. As a matter of fact, no women in my generation even knows how to sew. So much has been lost as a result of the women's movement which wrongly disparaged anything to do with what women of the past traditionally did.Nice work, my mom loved to quilt.
My mom had the same issues. It was very hard for her to give up those things she loved so very much. They were often gifts at Christmas to family loved ones. Gone is the day.Used to cross stitch & needlepoint, but my vision, my hands shaking, my patience, so can no longer, but I loved doing it. Works displayed here lovely.

There’s nothing about gender that says women have to sew, if there’s no need. We only have so many hours in a day so we do what we choose. If you want to sew, go ahead. Please don’t disparage those of us who don’t want to.As a matter of fact, no women in my generation even knows how to sew.
That's beautiful! Nice workNever done quilting but have done cross stitch. When I did a nursery nurse/nanny course we had to make a game or toy. I found a Ludo cross stitch in a magazine so made that and framed it with a perspex top. It is the only form of sewing I enjoy(ed).

Many people like working with their hands. If you check out sewing, quilting, knitting and cross stitch forums on Reddit, they are very active. There is also a large knit and crochet site.So much has been lost as a result of the women's movement which wrongly disparaged anything to do with what women of the past traditionally did.
yes, we take our machines and sewing projects with us. we visit quilt shops. we rent a home for a few days. we cook, we go out to eat, we snack, we drink, we laugh. sew from sun up to sun down.Do you take a sewing machine with you? (I assume so, but thought I'd ask.)
