This elderly lady and her husband have been served a notice to quit from their home for having a wheelchair ramp erected for the Wife because she has brain cancer...
This couple are not at work.. they're elderly and the lady is critically ill...I'm sure we all have seen peoples stuff sitting out at a street corner & when they come home from work they ?
However the builder specifically asked the landlord for permission to build the ramp and was given permission...as the home owner said in the video, the last thing he wanted to do was to fall foul of any rules.Unfortunately, having cancer does not meet the contractual requirement to get authorization for the ramp. I can assure you that someone in the park was complaining about the "illegal" ramp. The park was doing what contractually it was supposed to do.
People live in these parks and home owner associations, and don't realize the rights they sign away to live there.
Seems to me that's a valid ADA complaintThis elderly lady and her husband have been served a notice to quit from their home for having a wheelchair ramp erected for the Wife because she has brain cancer...

According to the news item, the contractor and tenant were never given written or oral permission. My ex lived with a H.O.A. and death row inmates have fewer restrictions than she had. For a time, I lived in a mobile home park, and it was similar. For a ramp that size, you would definitely need written permission. However the builder specifically asked the landlord for permission to build the ramp and was given permission...as the home owner said in the video, the last thing he wanted to do was to fall foul of any rules.
