I saw an XL Bully today

Once again, you show how unaware you are, of the facts in your own country. READ THIS LINK, that shows that about 5 percent of the population of the United Kingdom OWNS either a shot gun or a rifle.

What percentage of the UK population owns firearms? | TheGunZone.

Do you want to argue with this information, or it's source? Or will you agree that you were wrong ? Jimb.
see my post previous to yours...I have guns and a licence and so does my estranged husband

Well, a very small percentage do own a gun, no doubt for good reason. The vast majority including me wouldn't have a thing to do with such weapons. We leave it to our police. Compared to America.

I am happy to admit I am wrong in the facts.

Good, you were corrected with appropriate facts , and you admitted that you were wrong. That is a sign of an open mind. JimB.

Re the police, bear in mind that, if something happens to you, they're not likely to be already hovering outside your door "just in case". There are far too many people and far too few police for that.

Today I saw an ad for an American Bully. $2500. There were 9 or 10 pups in the photo. I don’t know where they were located just based on the phone number.

adding: It didn’t even say that they were registered, so they probably aren’t.

Back yard breeders are the ones who are going to be seen selling whatever poor quality pups are put out by the bitch. Of course the CKC or the AKC won't have these mongrels registered. Jimb.

This time an XL Bull dog has attacked a pony... horrific... this is in the town where I do a lot of my shopping...

Horror as 'XL Bully' mauls horse and cart in savage attack

People were parking their cars, running over to try and help get this dog off my horse, and then stayed with me whilst they called the police.

'After the police came, the guy had already left the pub, but were able to get his details through his cars registration that was parked by the park.'

Doris was left with deep cuts to her front and legs, while Mr Canwell says both of her nipples were ripped off. She was treated by a vet and Mr Canwell fears he now faces a massive bill.

He also took aim at the police force and accused them of not 'bothering to get my details'.

'My son had to go out of his way to get the crime reference, which we eventually got,' he said.

'This is my third day of trying to get the police to do something, but they told me and my son that no crime was committed.

That's just so frightening.

I read a remark somewhere which was that considering the situation with XL bullies, it's a good thing gun ownership is banned here in the UK. I agree, because irresponsible people are everywhere. To my thinking a dangerous dog is a loaded gun, even worse, these dogs can and do turn on them. I am amazed people with children can have such dogs. I wouldn't ever risk my grandchildren near such creatures.

It's got to be sorted or I am not leaving my home again. I am scared to go anywhere now.
I have stopped visiting several friends of ours who have got large dogs in their homes, not XL bullies, but other powerful breeds. I am too scared to enter their homes.

For goodness sake, dog companionship is marvellous. Why can't people choose from a wide variety of beautiful harmless dogs? What is so attractive about the obviously dangerous ones? Most people in our neighborhood have the most darling little dogs that enhance life and wouldn't hurt a fly.

@hollydolly, why isn't the local police handling this as a crime? Did the police give a reason why? What happened in that village is a crime in Ohio.

I know some people here are against gun ownership, but this is a circumstance where shooting this dog during the attack would be justified.
well this is a problem countrywide. The Prime minister has banned the breed.. and anyone who already owns one has to have it muzzled in public, and no-one is permitted now to breed from these dogs...

In this instance today with the pony the owners say ( and I have to tell you our local Police are terrible, they don't want to do any kind of investigation for anything )... that the reason the Police are not investigating is because they presume the owners of the horse are Travellers ( Gypsies)...

ONCE AGAIN...Gun ownership is NOT BANNED IN THE UK. I provided you with the facts that over a half a million UK residents OWN rifles and shoguns, but you are still putting out false information. I guess you have a short memory. link. There are more licensed gun owners in the UK than you might think Jimb.

why are you attacking her...

I've posted that I own guns as does my husband we're licenced to shoot, but only on private land .. she's already posted that she personally doesn't know anyone who owns guns... ..

She's right.. people here don't have the right to carry guns Permit or no Permit... we gun owners have licences to either shoot game or to use on the rifle range... the only people who can carry guns legally are gamekeepers, and the police..

So with all the firearm ownership in the UK why did not anyone stop the attack???????????????
Recently in Texas a robber robbed a small store and was shot by every customer in the store, I think this was in Houston Texas. Any firearm not instantly ready to deploy when needed is useless.
we're not allowed to carry guns in public..not ever.. under any circumstances..except to the Gun Range and back... and they have to be disabled. We cannot walk along the road carrying a damn gun

Anyone using a gun to protect themselves in the UK, face lengthy prison sentences.. and it has happened a few times..

Do I have to make the obvious point ? You live in Texas, not in the United Kingdom. The percentage of legal shotgun and rifle ownership in the UK is FIVE PERCENT of the national population, which is 67 million people, in total. Their rules do not allow people to carry firearms around in public. Your State does allow it. You are trying to compare apples to acorns. Jimb.
