Jethro Tull - Witch's Promise

I bet few of you have ever listened to Jethro Tull impressive 5:42 minute instrumental cover of Cream's Cat's Squirrel. The kind of hard rock that often dominated early 1970s Classic Rock. Saw them several times at Fillmore West in 1970/1971.

Here is Cream's version:

We had a radio station in the '70s here that focused on album rock. They had a Sunday show where they played entire albums with no interruption. That way you got the context of the individual songs as they were meant to be heard.

Oh, huge fan here. I think I have all their recorded output.

My intro was Songs from the Wood, so that naturally remains my favorite. But really, they haven't made a bad album. I can't name a favorite song, they have so many great performances. Right now, I'd go with Salamander:

Aqualung was what I would call the first adult record album I ever bought and I loved Tull from that moment on. I was 16 at the time. Their music stimulates my mind while moving something within my soul. They seemed groundbreaking to me in a way. It would be hard to choose a favorite track but I do love Living in the Past, Witch's Promise Velvet Green and Wondering Aloud. :giggle::D

I really liked Jethro Tull but I'm surprised that the 'do gooders' didn't ban some of their lyrics :-
From 'Aqualung' -
'Sitting on a park bench, eyeing little girls with bad intent'
'Little cross-eyed Mary gets no kicks from little boys, she's rather make it with some leching grey' 😈

You reminded me of this...

I don‘t presume to tell you what you should or shouldn‘t like, just what I believe. For me the real music of the Beach Boys, Beatles, Bee Gees, etc etc, was transformed into the endless screaming and ear piercing noise of the seventies and beyond. As for Jethro Tull, interesting, but not my thing.
