American TV Host Wendy Williams Has Frontotemporal Dementia

Sounds like the newest craze in medical terminology.
It could be that this is not easy to differentiate between other forms of dementia, plus it was not well known to the genera public like Alzheimer's is. Then Bruce Willis, a famous actor became a victim of this insidious condition. So although many people are afflicted with this ailment, his fame shed light on it.

@Remy I've let Hollydolly know in the past that she gets our (US) news before we do! :D And asked how does she do that?!

This article only scratches the surface of who WW has managed to p*ss off during her career which she built on spreading rumors and denigrating whoever she could. It's funny to see that Sean "Diddy" Combs is who got her fired from her radio show for going after him. As far as I'm concerned, she's a POS. POS people do not get sympathy or empathy from me.

BTW ABC is wasting two hours of time with their special about her and her condition. Her family currently doesn't know exactly where she is (a treatment facility somewhere) and there's still the question of her assets being held in a guardianship.

I don't feel she is as well known as other talk show hosts here in US.I saw her show way back and it was not my taste.
I feel the same way. I enjoy a good talk show host. One that’s not loud and or abnoxious. She appeared to be on the loud and abnoxious side but I didn’t watch much of her.

‘Alcohol-Induced Dementia’ and More Bombshells From Wendy Williams Doc

"Last Friday, after a New York appellate judge ruled that the Lifetime network could proceed with its plans to air the two part-documentary Where Is Wendy Williams?, the series aired its episodes on Saturday and Sunday, revealing a portrait of longtime iconic TV host Wendy Williams struggling mightily with what her adult son Kevin Hunter Jr. referred to as “alcohol-induced dementia.”

“[Doctors] basically said that because she was drinking so much, it was starting to affect her headspace and her brain,” Hunter Jr. clarified in Sunday’s episode. “So, I think they said it was alcohol-induced dementia.” "

I recently saw that headline. She apparently was/is a drinker/drunk. Some say alcohol has nothing to do with but alcohol already known to kill brain cells. Although isn't dementia hardening or closing of the arteries in the brain? Alcohol can't help. Maybe if alcohol induced it could be slowed or reversed?

Yes, she was a horrible human being but it is still sad to see someone reach such a low point in life. I won't watch the documentary because I consider it exploitative and don't need to see her act irrationally any more than she would have during her show.

Your empathy is admirable Doug.

I wouldn't wish dementia on anyone....

My mother died of dementia.......A horrible, horrible disease. I do feel sorry for what her family will have to go through.
As far as feeling sorry for her family....I'm with you on that! My mother had vascular dementia and it what she put me through when she was not herself was heartbreaking. Right now it seems Wendy's family has no physical access to her I feel sorry for them for that reason as well. Her niece did mention talking with her on the phone though.

:) Genetics? Environment? Diet? Injuries? and so forth.. It's not only illicit drugs that are a problem, but prescription drugs as well. And our food supply.
I read somewhere not that long ago, that the researchers are starting to look at diet quite a bit more with regards to Alzheimers. I think amounts of red meat consumed was of particular interest to them. Something to do with all the iron.

Absolutely. The iron in red meat, and the marbled fat in beef. I've heard it asserted that one big reason women outlive men is because of menstrual bleeding for thirty years of their lives. That and less red meat consumption.

Drinking too much alcohol causes the brain to shrink and leads to dementia. I read that is what happened to her. Some people spend their entire lives with unhealthy habits and are fine so it’s very individual.

well..My granny always ate home made food..unadulterated by pesticides, and very moderate portions.. she cooked everything from scratch. .. She never smoked, nor drank , she was on no prescription drugs that we were aware of, she didn't work in any industry that is blamed for certain illnesses... .. yet got it....
My mother and grandmother were the same. Although my mother did smoke for a time, but quit well before her senior years. My mother got vascular dementia and my grandmother got pancreatic cancer.

I doubt either of them ever ate at a fast food restaurant and neither did drugs. I remember my grandmother said her doctor prescribed medication for her (I forgot why). When he told her it was a narcotic, she told him she would not be taking it. But they did use things like bleach and other cleaning products.
