Wendy's "dynamic" pricing idea.

Wendy's is trying out what it calls "dynamic" pricing. The idea is that if you buy a burger at a time when Wendy's is crowded you'll pay more. And if you get a burger at slow times, it'll be cheaper. Wendy's says it's not raising prices, just cheaper at certain times. But whatever they call it, a burger will cost a couple of bucks more at noon than at 3PM.
What do you think of this?

I haven't been to Wendy's in years. Even if I was still going there, I wouldn't if they were going to jack up prices like this. There are too many people trying to make ends meet as it is. The only people who are really going to get hurt are the employees when no one buys the product.

It feels like a gimmick, but I think similar gimmicks were used to load-level and expand customer base in the past. How did the "Early Bird" deals work for the WW II generation down there in CodgerSpace (Florida?)?

It might make sense if they pre-cook their burgers. If the burger you get at 3 was cooked at 12, it should be worth less because it has lost quality. Not said in defense of Wendy’s, just applying common sense to a subject.

Is this in lieu of an across the board price increase? Maybe they're having staffing problems ? By trying to equalized the work load they will have enough staff to cover the shift.

I haven't been in a Wendy's in such a long time. I had a friend who worked there after she was laid off from her good job, that would have been in the early '80's.

I always thought their burgers were made pretty close to order, not made in advance.

The local Wendys are the cheapest fast food joint around especially the combos breakfeast and lunch/dinner/sandwiches. I go there for price/a deal. If I don't find it I leave. It wastes my time if I go there for a five for five. If the price is higher I'm leaving because a lower price is why I went there in the first place.
