Notes from Pappy's diary

Wow…the stuff that was in my wife’s ear was removed Friday. No wonder she was having trouble hearing. So glad we did this.

Had a rough night last night. Around. 3:30 am I woke up short of breath again. Went out to the kitchen, where I keep my nebulizer, and took a breathing treatment. This always seems to help quite a bit. Never did go back to bed, so I got caught up on my iPad and did some paid surveys.

Suns not
up yet, 6:50, and the wind has died down quite a lot. Last 5 days it’s been very windy and stormy.

Instacart was here exactly 9 am with our groceries. By 9:30, our weekly shopping was done. Great feeling. Right now, some kid with a hoodie is walking up and down in front of the house. Smile kid, you’re on candid camera.

Going to go make a coffee. Have a wonderful day…Pappy
Love groceries being delivered like that! I am never in a panic because I can't get to the store. I don't know how I lived without it.

:giggle: November 1st. One more month of hurricane season and it’s over. We have been so lucky this year as not one storm has come even close. Hope I didn’t jinx this bragging about it.

We are starting to get some cooler weather now. High today is 76 and low 60s at night. Lots of wind today and sun breaks through every so often.

Most of the snowbirds are back now. Traffic out there almost doubles and it is hard to get around to go anywhere. Most of them leave their turn signals home cause they sure don’t use them here.

Not much going on here today. Thursday, Thelma has PT on her ankle again and that means either a coffee stop or go out for supper. I’m leaning toward the latter.

Pappy wishes you all a great day and healthy day.

Yesterday, I had a doctors appointment in my calendar at 12 pm. Only thing is, I didn’t put which doctor. So this morning I got a call from the receptionist and I explained what happened. See set me up for this Monday at 2 pm.

Right now, I sitting outside in my carport. It’s a beautiful day out here. 79 degrees and a mild wind.

My lawn guy cleaned out my backyard this morning and it looks so good. He also trims my palm trees and sprays for bugs. Very fortunate to have Jim as my go to guy. All these things that I use to do, I can’t anymore.

That’s it today. Very quiet and calm day. Pappy

Look at that smile from my beautiful daughter. She just picked up her new German police dog puppy and was on her way home. She had one years ago, which passed
and she finally decided to get a new one.

Not much planned today as it is college football day. Biggest decision I need to make is which game to watch. Life is hard.. :giggle:

My next door neighbors, Don and Eileen, may IMG_5239.jpegnot be coming down until later. They are from Pennsylvania and Eileen just found out she may have bladder cancer. God, I hope and pray not. She needs to have more tests before they confirm this.

Almost lunch and football time. See you late….Pappy

Woke up to rain today. Next few days could be iffy weather. Nothing exciting planned today except Thelma has PT on her ankle at 3 pm. Our Next door neighbors might get here today. Talked to them last night and they were in a SC motel. Don and Eileen are good people and it will be good to see them again.

Still tossing around about getting a small dog. At our age, I don’t know if it would be fair to the dog. Went out to supper last night and had Dennys chicken skillet meal. Excellent flavor and not too pricy. IMG_2212.jpeg

Thelma had the same thing but without the mushrooms.

Need to bite the bullet this month as some big payments coming up. Thelma got new glasses last week, car payment and insurance due also. Making it on a fixed income can be a real hassle at times. Doesn’t leave much for spending money on ourselves.

You all take care out there and stay safe…Pappy

The last two days have been very boring around here. It rained hard for two days steady. Where we live in Palm Bay, we got 11.2 inches of the wet stuff. If it wasn’t for all the drainage canals, we would have water in the house. Many streets were closed yesterday. We are promised some sun starting Saturday.

We had groceries delivered this morning. Was happy it stopped raining long enough when the gal brought the groceries in for us. Some drivers will bring the packages right in the kitchen counter for us. These folks get a extra tip for doing that.

A couple pictures of the canal behind my house. Level is up about two feet and almost to our fence line.
Had a good night. Time for the news. Pappy.

Woke up this morning another year older. Still have the same old aches and pains. Guess I was hoping maybe I would out grow them. Just not gonna happen. Thelma wants to take me out for supper and it’s my choice. There are so many nice places to eat out down here but I’ll decide later.

Cooler weather has been the norm this week. Last night it was 54 and today high in the 60s. After Wednesday, it goes back up into the low 80s. A lot of people love the cooler weather, but not me. I get so cold if I’m just sitting around and need to use a cover while watching tv.

Must remember to finish charging up the golf cart today. I started it the other day and it started to rain so I didn’t finish it. I have to charge it outside as my outlets are there and no room inside my shed.

Not a lot of news as we lead a quiet life and spend a lot of time face timing our kids. Oh, going to be a great grand father again. My grandson just announced it to us. It will be a boy and a little brother to his older sibling. I think this will be number 18 for us. I’ll have to do a recount again. Who knows, by then there may be more. 🥹

Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes. It really means a lot to me.
Pappy

My last post was Nov. 29. Where does the time go?
Thelma’s therapy is done with. No more two trips a week to the other side of Melbourne. Ankle is better but still having trouble with her leg. She may need a shot for that.

My daughter from NY called last night and will pay us a visit on Jan. 27th. It will be good to see them again. It’s been over a year since last visit.

Think I have found a doctor that will give me shots for my back pain. Had my MRI done and shows lots of damage in my lower back, plus arthritis.

We had our golf cart Christmas parade last Sunday. Good turnout and lots of imagination when into some of the carts. Our community Christmas dinner coming this Sunday. Lots going on this time of year.

Not much else going on besides all the Christmas festivities going on. I’ll put up our little tree today and a few decorations that we still have.

Thelma and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Pappy

Pappy, I hope you get some relief for your pain, and have a wonderful visit with your daughter. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and your family. 💙

If I’m going to have a diary, I’d better start using it. No Davy, you didn’t say anything annoying. 😊
A lot of things going on since I last entered a note. Pneumonia. A-fib put me in hospital for a few days. What a crappy experience that was. Nurses screwing up, a drip backing up in my hand and was so painful. Every time I stood up, out of bed, to pee, alarms went off. I wasn’t supposed to get out of bed but until I learn to pee laying on my back, I’ll stand up. Enough of that place.

My daughter flew down from Poughkeepsie, NY and took good care of me. She’s a nurse and made sure I took my meds and drove me and Thelma to places we needed to go.

Things in the park here are moving along fairly normal. Won’t be long before the snow birds start moving out to go to their summer homes. Traffic will be so much better when they leave.

Groceries are being delivered through Insta-cart, a tremendous help. Neither Thelma or I are great on shopping in person anymore. Her right knee is bone on bone and I am not very steady anymore.

I want to thank everyone who wished me well while I was in the hospital. You are all such good Friends.
Until next time, be happy.
Happy Pappy..

Aw shucks Pappy thanks for that I was, to tell the truth, a bit worried but you are such a good story teller and they all seem so true!! At times you know we do think someone will be here for ever! It's like the nightly storytime session - gather around everyone Pappys back with another true real life story!

Glad to hear you are out of he hospital and that your daughter was there to help.
Take care, Pappy. I hope things ease up for you.

Pappy, I love that your daughter finally got the dog of her dreams! What his name? Did your friend Eileen find out if she had cancer?
Hi Lara. She named the dog Wolfie. He’s a long hair German Shepard. Eileen does not have cancer thank God. Just some stomach problems that she takes meds for now. Thanks for asking. Pappy
