Kitchens ~ any style goes

We are looking at redoing the kitchen. I know it will be challenging. We're trying to find the balance of how much to leave, how much to rip out. A full remodel is so expensive. There's been no remodel at all since '91. House is from the 70's.
Well, likely about the same plain Jane but new walls, countertops, cabinet fronts, flooring. Maybe lose the counter in the middle that ends up in the walkway when two people are coming through at the same time.
We hope to lose the hanging cabinets above that same countertop to open things up.
The problem? Where is all that storage space going?

Some purging may have to be done, starting with the Tupperware,

We're going to do some updates in our kitchen this year, too. I have gray slate tile for the floor & will be repainting the cabinets & walls. Behind the stove, I'm replacing the drywall in the stove alcove with 1x8 pine tongue & grove wood painted white so I can have my cast iron skillets hang from pipe over the stove. It will look similar to the first picture, but using the pipe style from the second. I want to add a few low open shelves on the side walls for salt/pepper/flour/etc. that are sitting on the cabinets now.

This is gorgeously stunning.

Not as grandiose as the kitchen's you've posted, but this was part ofView attachment 334642View attachment 334643 my kitchen in our house in AZ. It overlooked a pool and the mountains. Since we left AZ, there are new homes in back of the property that block the mountains. It's sad :( Loved this kitchen, though.
That's pretty grandiose to me! 😊

Yes and no. It's an AGA Rangemaster which is a brand of AGA making electric and dual fuel cookers. This is mine. It has two ovens, a separate grill and 5 cooking rings in a ceramic hob.

Thanks, the cupboard doors are solid maple 'Shaker style' - the kitchen has a 'U' layout and the fridge and freezers are off to the right of the picture.

If I had a choice between a new car or an Aga, I would go with the Aga. I know we can have them shipped over, would take over six months or longer. Last I checked would cost about $25,000.00. Of course this is just a lark for me as I could not fit one in my kitchen. I guess the best thing to do is win the lottery and buy a house with the space for one.
