Mr. Arthritis has come to visit,

Perhaps you can invite his friend Ben Gay to visit...or a similar "friend" who might provide relief. Seriously, I sure hope that pain leaves you soon Hawkdon. Do you have a method to help relieve it...like using heat or cold compresses? On the very rare occasion that I have pain, my body seems to favor heat.

Hawkie.. I have Osteoarthritis in both hands... all my fingers are affected to varying degrees..except my thumbs. My index and middle fingers are the worst, the most painful.... Sometimes the pain is excruciating, especially during cold, and wet weather. I also have it in my Spine and in both knees... I've had the steroid injections in my back and knees...

However I have been taking Marine Collagen for about a year every day without fail..., along with my usual long time Supplements of D3, Lutein..and B Complex . and in the last couple of months the pain in my hands have really lessened to the point where it's almost gone completely..

i didn't know there was a correlation between Marine Collagen and bone health.. it was only after I noticed this decrease in the pain in my hands.. that I researched and found the connection... and I have to tell you this has been such a relief to me after going through last winter having to wear finger splints, and or Compression gloves so I could just type... , the splints and gloves stay in the drawer for now..

I have it in my back and thumbs. When it flares up the best thing I have found is ibuprofen. It is the only OTC product that helps me. Hope you feel better soon.

Hope you feel better soon @hawkdon. I found that 8-hour arthritis Tylenol is slow to help me, but the regular does nothing at all. I'm not supposed to take ibuprofen which is best for helping me with pain, but I will take it if I really need it.

I'm taking Collagen Peptides I, II, III, IV, V & X for the past 2 years. I'm not sure if it's helped, but I'm not any worse. I'm trying to learn more about curcumin which is an anti-inflamtory.

@hollydolly, do you have more info on what type/amount of B-complex your taking?

I have it [arthritis] overall. And yes some days my hands are horrible. The knuckles lock up, and it is hard to do anything. Writing is next to impossible @ times. As for relief ? frankly I have found nothing yet that really works, some days it seems like the [nsaids] help, other days ... not so much.

I hate to say it but ... for the most part, find as comfortable position as possible and sit there. If your hands are really acting up .... be extra careful with hot drinks, etc. On [knee] days .... avoid steps.

Marine Collagen is a new one to me... I'll have to mention it to a friend who has the same issues, especially her knees. Have you noticed a difference in your knees, too, Holly, or just hands? @hollydolly

morning friends....my left hand still bad, right one not so
much...just got a brace in from amaozon, may help....I used
advil 2 pills and no help, took my major pain pill oxycotin and

Ms, Arthritis is visiting me, she likes my company so much she has rearranged my joints and bones to accommodate her for a long stay.
What would happen if Mr. & Ms.. Arrthritis were reunited? Would they pack their belongings and move to the Suburrbs?

As I said in a previous thread here I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis over 50 years ago after being briefly hospitalized with a swollen and painful knee joint and have lived with joint pain in varying degrees throughout the years. In my case it is only now becoming to the point where it effects my mobility to any degree and only then on some days more than others, for the most part I am able to ignore the aching and carry on most days.
In my case it seems to be mostly in the major joints, shoulders, knees and hips and the 300' walk out to get the mail is sometimes about the limit, but I feel very fortunate that it has not progressed to the point that others here have described.

For the last 5 years I have been taking a non prescription supplement that my Nurse Practitioner recommended called Glucosamine Chondroitin which seems to help keep things down to a dull roar.l

That’s cause glucosamine Chondroitin has shark cartilage in it which helps heal joints. The tablets are usually quite large to swallow so I cut them. There are many natural remedies that work which don’t wear down the lining of the stomach like conventional medicines do

Oh that must be so alarming and painful.
However, I find so many things come and go.
One day you can be all stiff and exhausted, a week later no problems. Our bodies are very good at healing.
Definitely more pain on rainy days than on sunny days. I don't know why.

When my wife and I have arthritis (knees, back), we take diclofenac or ketoprofen and after an hour do a light massage around the joint to help the medication penetrate. A sports doctor advised us to do this.

My wife and I have arthritis, and although she has had injections, the doctor told me to "Keep moving!" We try to do that, but ibuprofen, naproxen, and diclofenac gel are necessary. We also have been prescribed 52 appointments for rehabilitative sports, but the most difficult time is getting out of bed each morning, but also after the fitness centre.
